Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish Review + Swatches

Hey there again lipsticks lovers! Here’s another exciting new release from Dior, the Rouge Dior Liquid (0.20 oz for $35) that comes in three different finishes; Matte, Satin, & Metallic. Each three effects carry such beautiful array of shades that are simply hard to resist.

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish review

The Rouge Dior Liquid Lipsticks are meant to be well-pigmented, good coverage lipsticks that promise comfort and lasting longevity. I’ve been waiting for these liquid lipsticks for some time. It’s like “finally, now there’s a liquid version of Dior’s well-performing Rouge Dior Lipstick!”. Since I’m a fan of the mattes of Rouge Dior, I thought it would be interesting to see how their Rouge Dior Liquid in Matte Finish would fare.

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish

These liquid lipsticks retained the same typical Dior scent/flavor of lipsticks, which is powdery-floral. In other words, it’s pretty much the same scent as the Rouge Dior Lipsticks (reviewed HERE). They come in a nice sleek black tube that kinda resembles the Nars Powermatte Lipsticks, but still has the Dior style and initials on the cap. The brush applicator is very interesting, it’s sort of hollow like a reservoir for the product that will be applied on the lips. With that being said, I usually use up to two swipes to get a full coverage on my lips. That’s because these lipsticks are creamy but not extremely so. If you’re familiar with Bareminerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Color (reviewed HERE) and Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (also reviewed HERE), then the Rouge Dior Liquid is not that different from those them. They’re what I call a “comfortable matte” kind of lipsticks. They all start as creamy, and maybe even powdery as in the case of Burberry, then they have a matte finish once they set, but they never get too dry and they feel lightweight. They may still transfer but not so much, and they don’t bleed. Their effects are beautiful because it’ll look like you always have fresh matte lipsticks on. The Rouge Dior Liquid is probably the one that doesn’t transfer the most.

These are the kind of lipsticks that are worth having as one of your ride or die type of lipsticks. They’re non-drying but their effect is matte, they’re well-pigmented but they’re wearable, they transfer but only very slightly. I find that once these Rouge Dior Liquids settled on the lips, which didn’t take much time, you would have to really press it firmly against a glass or the back of your hands to actually see the smudge or transfer, which makes these lipsticks very reliable.

As for these lipsticks to be long wearing, it actually depends on each and every shade. For the lighter shades, I get a good 7 & 1/2 hours of wear with some stains still on my lips, despite eating and snacking. For the darker colors, these are pretty much beyond 7 hours for sure, because they stain the lips very well.

Here are some of the mattes I picked:

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish 625 mysterious matte, 828 dressed to matte

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish

424 Hypnotic MatteDark Pink. I don’t know if it’s my pigmented lips or that this lipstick’s shade was wrongly described, but I wouldn’t call this a dark pink. This is like nude to warm beige with a hint of pink. This is my fave shade for my light-medium complexion because it doesn’t make me look too washed-out, because of the pink in it.

574 Lively MatteDusty Pink. I would call this a mauvy pink. Although a little bit more pinkish for my taste, this shade really brightens the face and very spot on for the summer. Also a great pink color for fair to light skin tones.

614 Jungle MatteLight Brown. True to its description, I love that this gives enough warmth on my lips. A bit close to my lips’ natural shade, but still very wearable and great for a daytime look. Perhaps the similar shade for this would be Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Bestie.

625 Mysterious MatteBrownish Pink. Beeyoutiful! Sexy and Perfect. This shade is definitely mysteriously gorgeous. Just like or similar to the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Mona (Emma Stone’s lip color when she won the Oscar’s, reviewed and swatched HERE), this shade is stunning and it really looks great if you have a light-medium to deep complexion. Love the perfect blend of terracotta and pink.

828 Dressed To MatteReddish Brown. If 625 Mysterious Matte is beautiful, this shade is taking it up to another level. A perfect red wine color that will truly elevate your look. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to buy this or not, but thank goodness I did.

Bottom line, the Rouge Dior Liquid Matte Finish Lipsticks are definitely worth a try and to have. If you love matte finish or matte liquid lipsticks but hate the drying effect, then these are definitely for you. Also, these come in different shades and finishes that will for sure suit to your liking. So, which is which?

Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi Guys! What’s trending lately? There’s been a couple of new beauty releases, and they’re pretty much drool-worthy. Part of those releases are the eyeshadow palettes by Marc Jacobs. Oh, I know what you’re thinking, they’ve been on my watch list too. LOL, and guess what? they’re mostly sold out now. Yep, that’s how hot the Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palettes are ($49).

When I saw online that these are going be released soon, I wasn’t too smitten with them at first. For its price and the number of shades on the palette, I feel like you could probably get more bang for your buck with some other palettes. That is, until I set eyes on them at my local Sephora. I was like “those are really beautiful shades of eyeshadows”, even more so when I swatched them on my arms. Oh men, so pigmented, so soft, and what gorgeous packagings!

As you can see in the photos above, I brought home two palettes that I think might suit well with my dark almost-black hazel eyes. I love earthy neutral tones and some warm shades, so I picked Glambition and Scandalust. I know, they have such catchy names, right? Each palette came with a free sample of Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Eye Primer, which is awesome. I was contemplating whether I should get the Edgitorial shades or not, but in the end, I decided to skip on that for now. To be honest, there are lots of beautiful shades in each palette, but I’m pretty sure I couldn’t pull-off most of them, so here are the two beautiful shades I got.

Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette review

720 Glambition – The shades in this particular palette probably has the most neutral sort of “Urban Decay Naked (1st) vibe” (reviewed HERE). It’s great to wear as an everyday eye makeup because it has a nice array of bronze, neutrals, and gold. You can never go wrong with this.

740 Scandalust – Gorgeous Dahling! Gorgeous! Has a bit of an Urban Decay Naked Heat vibe (seen HERE), due to the presence of the brick red shade, rusty browns, and mid-tone brown. This specific palette looks well-curated and very beautiful. It adds warmth, depth, and nice colors on the lid.

Three things that really stood out for these palettes; First, they’re well-pigmented both on the palette and upon application. They’re probably one of the few eyeshadows or eyeshadow palettes I’ve tried that truly deliver strong pigments at first swipe, using an eyeshader brush. In my experience, I swiped a shade on my lids more than twice and I already started looking like a raccoon. LOL. Some of those other very well-pigmented eyeshadow palettes are the Lorac Pro Palette (reviewed HEREAnastasia Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette, and the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette (seen HERE) to name a few.

Second, these MJ Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palettes feel very fine, very soft, and almost creamy in their overall texture. Even though there are some glittery shades in each palette, I find that they have very minimal fall outs and they really adhere very well on the lids. Since these are so pigmented and long lasting, they’re also easy to work around the lids. You can pack the colors, layer them, or blend them more. They’re pretty much flexible to use.

Third, that sleek packaging is TDF. It may look elongated to you, but I actually like it because the mirror on these palettes is wide like the rearview of a car, which gives you enough visibility as to what’s happening with your eye game. They’re also easy to open, just push the little button in the middle and voila! Another thing I wanna point out is that the packaging is pretty flat which makes it so easy to pack. Take note of these in your next vacay soon.

Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette swatchesI believe these eyeshadow palettes are worth their price. They have incredible pigments, beautiful array of shades, luxurious packaging, and they’re easy to travel with. I definitely recommend these and they go very well when paired with Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner (reviewed HERE).

For sure it’s hard to pick just one of these palettes. The million dollah question is, which palette are you gonna get?

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Matte Finish Review + Swatches

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Review

Advance Happy Weekend Everybody! I must have been asleep or in a coma (LOL) when Urban Decay released the liquid version of their fan-favorite and ever-popular Vice Lipsticks, which are simply called The Vice Liquid Lipsticks (0.17 oz: $18). They come in two finishes, which are matte and metallic. Since I’m a huge fan of matte liquid lipsticks, this review is gonna be all about the mattes.

I reviewed the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks before, seen HERE, and I really like those lippies. They also come in different finishes and they have incredible pigments. I was such a fan of those that I’ve always wanted them in liquid versions and was hoping that Urban Decay might release them soon. Unbeknownst to me, they’ve already released the Vice Liquid Lipsticks, and here I was, always late in the news. Somehow, I don’t know why it occurred to me that the UD Vice Liquid Lipsticks were all in metallic finishes. But anyway, since finding out that they also have some matte ones, I thought of getting a few. Unfortunately, by the time I realized all this, I was a bit a little too late. Most of my preferred matte finish shades are now discontinued, so I was left with only a couple of shades to choose from. Anyways, I picked the ones that I really like and here they are.

AmuletMatte Brick Rose. This is a shimmery brick rose shade that you’d think it belongs to the metallic finish group, but this dries matte. Somehow, it has a metallic effect since there’s a decent amount of glitter in it. It can be quite reflective but not necessarily shiny. I thought this was gonna be a flashy shade for me, obviously because of the glitters, but I actually like this because it adds dimension to the lips. This is a unique and gorgeous shade for sure.

BacktalkMatte Mauve Nude-Pink. This pretty shade can work for every skin tone because it’s a nice blend of muted nude mauvy pink. It’s a pretty shade that won’t’ make you look too pale, and it adds just a bit of rosy touch to the lips.

1993Matte Medium Brown. Love this SO ’90’s shade. It’s a sexy and edgy shade for light, medium, and dark skin tones. It’s so well-pigmented and it makes your pout truly gorg.

Compared to the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks

I might have been late in reviewing these liquid lipsticks, but I’m glad I found them, it’s better late than never, right? As for the formulations and the shades, these Vice Liquid Lipsticks don’t have a lot of love from the reviews at Sephora, that’s because even though these are very well-pigmented, there’s something wrong with the formulation. I’m not sure if all the shades are like that, but I noticed that these liquid lipsticks tend to feel sticky while they’re settling on the lips, and if you close your lips together, you’d feel them sticking to each other. It’s weird and it’s kinda annoying. Also, it takes a while for these liquid lipsticks to set, which reminds of Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips, reviewed HERE. They both have beautiful and well-pigmented shades, but the formula is somewhat sticky.

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Matte Finish

Other than that, these UD Vice Liquid Lipsticks have such good color payoff to them. They apply as creamy and not that streaky, and the scent is almost indiscernible. I like its sleek and shiny packaging with a pretty sturdy applicator. It does a good job at precisely lining and applying colors on the lips. Overall, these lipsticks last a long time for me, though some shades may feel kinda drying on the lips, and the sticky formula needs to be improved.
