Hello Gell-o! Today’s review is all about Clinique. Correction: not Clinic, not even hospital. 🙂 LOL, Apart from my holy grail liquid foundations from Chanel, (click here) I am also in love with some of Clinique’s liquid foundations. I would say, in general, they’re a hit or a miss. Most of the time, they get the job done and at a “not so” exorbitant price. Plus, they always come up with different formulations for your different skin care or makeup needs.
The three products above are my top favorite Clinique Liquid Foundations. Most of them are meant for oily-prone to acne-prone skin, as you know girl…my skin’s got 99 problems and an acne is one. 🙂
Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup (14 Vanilla) – Medium coverage. This is the first liquid foundation I ever purchased from Clinique. I wanted this to address my oily, as in cooking-oily canola oil skin. Hah! This foundation did addressed my issue by mattifying my skin without looking flat and it doesn’t feel heavy. It also gives a natural look. I also love the shade as it really matched my skin tone, even though it looked different in the bottle. For reference, on Mac; I am NC-30 to 35, also in Chanel; I am 30 Beige. On the downside, the mattifying effect didn’t last very long, but still it’s good enough.
Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup (04 Fresh Vanilla) – Light to Medium Coverage. This is made specifically for acne-prone skin. It has salicylic acid and is slightly less creamy than the “stay-matte” foundation mentioned above. It’s also lightweight and it has a pretty good coverage. The shade also matched my skin tone well. No irritating scent and my skin absorbed it quickly. Some people claimed it to be drying, but since I’m canola oily, I barely noticed it. I guess it’s because of the drying effect of salicylic acid. I usually use this on “problematic” skin days, as I feel like my skin needs to be medicated while looking poreless and even.
Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream ( Light Medium) – Light Coverage. This is still under Clinique’s “Acne Solutions” line, but a BB Cream. Actually, this Big Bad cream is not a “cream” at all. It’s very liquid in consistency, but it performs very well. Of all the three liquid foundations mentioned here, this is my most favorite. It’s quite similar to my holy grail Chanel foundations without the perfect coverage and lasting power. However, this particular foundation is very easy to apply, extremely lightweight and gives a decent amount of coverage. I find myself grabbing this a lot if I wanna look natural and not overdone. Just shake the bottle before using as some contents may settle at the bottom.
Note: Clinique’s Stay Matte in 14 Vanilla is very similar in shade to Clinique’s Acne Solutions Liquid 04 Fresh Vanilla. Clinique’s Acne Solutions BB Cream has only 3 shades available, I picked the middle shade in Light Medium, which is slightly yellowish, but didn’t look yellow on my skin, instead, it just made it slightly tanned.
