Hey there beauty addicts! Today I’m going to talk about my personal take on lash primers since they’ve been quite popular lately and a couple of beauty brands in the market have been making their own lash primers or mascara base as well. In fact, this lash primer trend didn’t dawn on me until lately, since I didn’t really realize that you actually need a lash primer to enhance your mascaras. I have always been fine with “mascara solely” on my lashes and that has been good enough for me. Recently, I ventured into lash primers and my experience has been quite satisfying.
For this review, I tested Diorshow Maximizer 3D vs Lancome Cils Booster XL mascara base. Both are very popular in the makeup world nowadays. There’s also Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer which I have yet to try, and hopefully will review soon, but today, let’s talk about Diorshow Maximizer 3D and Lancome Cils Booster XL.
Just an FYI, I used Clinique High Impact Mascara to pair with the two lash primers mentioned above. A Sephora beauty consultant advised me to apply the mascara immediately after applying the lash primers, which I did. Also, I don’t have a lot of lashes, they’re very sparse, it’s like an Area 51 in there 🙂 so bare with me. 🙂
Lancome Cils Booster XL is sligthly creamier than Diorshow Maximizer 3D. I like how Lancome’s primer spread and coated my lashes evenly. Diorshow is thicker and dries faster than Lancome’s.
Diorshow Maximizer 3D has almost no discernible scent, while Lancome Cils Booster XL has slightly strong chemical scent but it goes away immediately once applied.
Diorshow Maximizer 3D retails at $29.50 (available HERE) while Lancome Cils Booster XL is at $25. 50 (also available HERE)
Both has nice brush applicators and are easy to apply.
Both last very well and holds your lashes perfectly. There has been no smudging noticed.
Diorshow Maximizer 3D produces a fattening effect on lashes, making it full and thick, even thicker than applying with a mascara only. While Lancome Cils Booster XL has sort of a lengthening effect, and evens out your lashes quite well.
Both are really neck in neck with each other, but personally, I like the effect of Diorshow Maximizer 3D on my lashes better. For someone with sparse lashes, there’s really not much that you can do. I couldn’t even tell the difference between the two primer’s effect on my Area 51 lashes from afar. 🙂 But I chose Dior’s because somehow it made my lashes thicker and fuller, even if there’s not a lot of it. If you have sparse lashes like me, I definitely suggest the Diorshow Maximizer 3D, but be aware that the effect will only be quite slight. Might as well wear false lashes to enhance your eye makeup look.
