best eye pencils

Whaddup Guys! As you all know, I’m not only a fan of lipsticks or any lip products, I’m also a huge fan or eye liners or eye pencils. In fact, a few months ago, I did a review of my favorite liquid eye liners HERE.

My tiny collection are my personal favorites that I love all throughout the years. I usually go for eyeliners with good color saturation, blendable and long lasting. It’s very important for me that these liners won’t make my eye makeup looking harsh, so in general, I like a softer or slightly creamier type of eyeliner formulation.

I also opt for dark browns to black hues for my eye liners, specially when I like to create a cat-eye look. As the popularity of waterproof liquid eye liners continue to surge, I also found myself using them specially when I want a no-budge eye makeup during hectic days, the problem is that most liquid liners are hard to correct and hard to blend. So on days that I just want to create a more natural look for my eyes, I tend to use my pencil liners. In my opinion, it’s still kinda hard to find a good waterproof and long lasting eye pencils out there, but hopefully their formulations will improve with time.

Here’s 8 of my favorites:

1.  MAC Pro Longwear Eye Liner: Love this eye liner a lot, and perhaps my most favorite of them all. It’s so easy to apply and to correct, it doesn’t smudge even if you have oil lids. It’s also water-resistant and it really lasts 12 hours, even more.

2. Revlon ColorStay: Also another great formulation for a drugstore eye liner. I love its twist type opening and liner is waterproof, smudge-proof and very very long lasting for about 16 hours. It also has a built-in sharpener on the bottom of the pencil for a more precise application.

3. Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner: Another great eye liner that’s gel-like and is very easy to apply. Works for 12 hours with good color saturation. This eyeliner works well even during hot and humid days. Also has a built-in sharpener, just like the Revlon ColorStay liner.

4. Fiona Stiles Ultra Smooth Waterproof Eye Defining Pencil: One of the softest and easiest to apply eye liner I’ve ever tried. It’s so creamy and blendable with very intense shades and is meant to last for 14 hours. When I first tried this eye liner, I had a shocking experience. I glanced at myself in the mirror and I thought something’s wrong with my lids! they looked bruised and I looked like one of those victims from True Detective! hahaha! Oh my, the horror! Apparently, since I have oily lids, plus I forgot to apply a lid primer, this eye liner smudged to my lid crease and was almost close my brow bone. So, lesson learned,  if you have oily lids like moi, always use a lid primer, specially when you’re using this eye liner.

5. Nars Eye Liner Pencil: A reliable long wearing eye liner that is creamy enough to blend but doesn’t smudge and is very well-pigmented. It creates a natural-looking eye makeup.

6. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil: a gorgeous eye liner with lots of shades to choose from. It’s also creamy and glides on smoothly on the lids without creasing or smudging. It’s truly waterproof and is also extremely long lasting.

7. Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon: This gel eye liner has the most intense color saturation of all eye liners I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely great for smoky eye look since it’s also very creamy, waterproof and extremely long lasting. Also has built-in sharpener at its base and is an Allure Best of Beauty winner.

8. Maybelline Line Express Eye Liner: Another great drugstore eye liner. It has a creamy formulation, easy to apply and bold color. On top of that, it has a smudger on the other side to create a more blended and natural look.

Liquid Eyeliners VS Eye Pencils: I like both really. Liquid liners are more reliable in the sense that they usually are made to last for hours without smudging or creasing. But they’re hard to correct and to blend. It needs proper technique and timing when using a liquid eye liner. No shaky hands as much as possible. 🙂 On the other hand, Eye pencils are easier to blend and correct whenever you made a mistake. They also create a less-harsh or more natural look, but they run the risk of transfer and creasing after some hours of wear, or after exposure to humidity.

Personally, I think at the end of the day, you should opt to where you’re most comfortable with. I still think it’s good to have both, but whatever your choices are going to be, make sure you’re buying a very good formula for each type of eye liners, just like the ones I’ve reviewed above.

How about you guys? which ones do you prefer?
