Hold The Door! Hold The Door! Hold The Door! Hodor!… Wait, What? What am I supposed to hold? Darn…that last episode of Game Of Thrones had scarred me for life, huhuhu…Poor Ho
edor, huhuhu…If they’ll kill more Dire Wolves….well, let’s get to Game Of Reality, shall we?
Let’s talk about Facial Toners. Do you use facial toners? at all? How many of you forgets to use facial toners? Don’t even have a facial toner? Girl…What’s a facial toner? like a cartridge? ha! 🙂
Facial toners, you know, that additional “liquid/fluid” beauty product you need to add to your beauty routine, apart from that annoying serum, that costs an arm and a leg and you’re probably not even sure if they’re gonna work. Just because everyone is using them. Oh see? now you’re thinking… Well, I used to be like that you know. Until lately, my skin’s been looking like a zombie so I gotta resuscitate it back to life. 🙂
My top three toners are the ones above. They are Shiseido White Lucent, Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean and SK II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion. I have basically experimented on them for quite some time now. I do believe that you don’t need a very expensive toner if you have a pretty normal skin. Perhaps you won’t even need one. But for me, I realize that a toner is really important in my life and that I shouldn’t be so lazy in applying them! Argh…
What are the benefits of Facial Toners?
- Shrinks Pores
- For pH Balance
- Additional Protection
- Prevent ingrown hairs
Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Balancing Softener – One of the first facial toners I bought. It’s mild and didn’t harm my skin. No untoward reaction at all. It didn’t sting my skin and this toner has no irritating scent. It is meant to give you that luminous, even-toned skin and probably whitening too, as per the name. However, I didn’t notice that much of a difference. My skin definitely did brighten up a bit, and made it even, but it didn’t whiten nor made it luminous. It only felt clean and fresh, and it prevented my skin from looking dull. I recommend this for someone who doesn’t have any skin issues and would just like to maintain it.
Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Hydrating Toning Lotion/Refiner – After consuming my Shiseido White Lucent, I ventured into another toner, just because I wanted try something else. Also, I wanted more action in my toner, so I went and bought this. First, I love this toner’s price, at $25 you’ll get a lot of toner that won’t break the bank. Second, they’re easy to find, so you don’t have to scour some stores. However, as soon as I applied this, I smelled the big “A” for Alcohol. Of course, the first word that came to my mind is “drying?”. Nope. Definitely not. It does smell like an alcohol but it didn’t dry my skin. In fact it made my skin feel fresher and cleaner. The only drawback is, like Shiseido’s White Lucent, it didn’t do anything extraordinary apart from maintaining my skin’s even tone.
SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion – My third facial toner experiment. They say “Third Time’s A Charm,” indeed. This toner will put a hole in your wallet, but it does work, specially for someone with problematic skin. When I first used it, it kinda made me broke out a bit, but a few days after that, I noticed that my skin is not that oily anymore and there has been less breakouts. I also noticed a glowy complexion and a more even skin tone. I love that this has no scent and just feels like a slightly creamy water. For now, this would be my holy grail. 🙂
So they you go folks, my top 3 facial toners. I recommend the first two toners if you have zero to minor skin issues, or basically on good skin days. The last toner will be ideal if you have an acne-prone skin, oily skin, or just a very dull skin that needs to look even, luminous and glowy.
