What’s Up Party People?! I’ve been wanting to do this review for quite a while now, but I just keep forgetting. Finally, Alleluia! I’m now gonna talk about these two Nars Foundations that I’ve been testing and rotating to see which one I’ll fall in love the most. These are the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Santa Fe and Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Punjab.
For reference, I have an NC30-35 medium-tone skin. A brownie by all means. Also, my skin is on the canola oily side, but not quite sensitive. It can stand a beating for most of the time, and almost has no hyperpigmentation, though can be slightly prone to redness, like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, but no, I don’t have a very shiny nose.
Anyway, these two foundations are both popular, almost neck and neck with each other, but one of them definitely stood out for me, and one of them is considered a hit or a miss by some people. Here’s my 2 cents.
Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (Punjab) – According to Nars: An oil-free foundation that delivers full, natural-looking coverage with one drop, for lightweight, 16 hour wear. Me: I love the look of this foundation. But there’s a few things I immediately did not like. While this foundation doesn’t have any overpowering scent, nor broke out my skin, I’m kinda annoyed that the pump gets stuck inside the cap. I find myself trying not to put back the cap to avoid that issue. Also, after applying this very liquid foundation, my face looked like a ciabatta bread. hahaha! it’s true, I was like “my facial definition is gone!” I looked too flat, like a dim sum. Additionally, this foundations is quite cakey and it slightly settled on my fine lines and pores. For its very liquid consistency, this foundation is extremely pigmented, so to avoid yourself from looking like a flat bread, try not to put a lot of it. The big plus is that the Punjab shade is really the perfect match for my NC30-35 skin and it does feel lightweight, but 16 hour wear? not so much, it’s long wearing yeah, but not for my oily skin.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Santa Fe) – According to Nars: A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage. Me: I wasn’t sure about its packaging, I kept asking myself “Where’s the pump?” “Am I supposed to finger this thing?” LOL, the answer is Yes and No. No because there’s really no pump, and Yes because you might wanna double dip on this thing. But it’s not yet the end of the world, you can always use a brush or a beauty blender, ya know. Now, the complaints end there, when it comes to this foundation’s formulation, well, I think this is definitely a lot better than Nars All Day Luminous Weightless because this did not erase my facial definition and is actually much more luminous in effect. It’s very creamy, lightweight, has good sheer coverage and you may not need to put a lot. It’s very buildable as well. Also, it didn’t have any strong scent and did not break out my skin. The Santa Fe shade is also great for my skin tone, just like the Punjab. I find this foundation to be quite long lasting despite it not claiming any hours of wear.
Verdict: For me, the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation wins. Despite its poorly thought out packaging, it’s more versatile and wearable than Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.
