Hi my friends from the other side of the monitor! Have you heard about Chanel’s newly-improved nail polish? They just phased-out their old/original formulas around mid-February and replaced them what they call a “gel-like” formula, but before that, please read part 1 of this review, which featured the older Chanel formulas.
Chanel claimed that this newly-renovated polish is now 5-free, and features Bioceramics and Ceramides to improve nail quality. But wait! what’s bioceramics and ceramides, anyway? because all I could think of is “Ceramics?” “Pottery? like Pottery Barn?” 🙂 Clay much?
Long story short, Bioceramics adheres to nails like a coating which will make nails stronger, while Ceramides retain moisture or restore skin integrity. Gotcha!
Below are a few of the colors that caught my interest. Oh, and by the way, they come with weird names!
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Particuliere – This is the new-improved cult-favorite “Particuliere.” It still has the same Particular/Particuliere color and I think it’s even creamier. This was easy to apply and has less acetone-like scent, although I noticed a lot of microbubbles in the bottle. Thankfully there were none during application.
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Camelia – This is a cute fuchsia-pink color which is also very creamy in texture. It’s gonna be great for spring of summer. It reminds me of Chanel’s Desirio, and take note that this is the only pink in Chanel’s newly formulated le vernis.
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Mythique – There is something “mystic’ about this color. It’s like a red-brown or brick red color, very similar to Exception and Accessoire. This is gonna my new fave. Girls with darker tones take note.
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Shantung – I’m not exactly sure where Chanel got their names, especially this name. It sounds weird! Wikipedia says Shantung is a dress fabric made of silk, as to what color? dunno… However, this particular nail color is RED. It is bright bloody red from the arteries, yez! Dracula will love this! it’s like Ecorce Sanguine without the glitters.
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Roubachka – Rebecca! La Vaca! Chewbacca! Livin’ La Vida Loca! Where the hell did Chanel get their nail polishes’ names? This one is called Roubachka, it’s probably the signature nail polish of Chewbacca, inspired by him. hahaha. This color is weird. It appears black on the bottle yet it applied violet or blue-violet. I also didn’t like the texture, it just seems too watery. I had to put 3 coats in order to fully cover my nails.
Final Thoughts: I really like their creamy textures, perhaps, maybe, except for Roubachka Chewbacca 🙂 So far, I haven’t noticed any breakage or if anything was chipped. I also like their colors, but I wish they’ll introduce more colors in the future, especially the cult-favorite ones. How is this compared to the previous formula? I didn’t really notice much difference, if there is, it’s probably the texture and the scent. The new formula seems creamier and has lesser acetone odor. The brush is still the same, and I wish they made it wider so that it’s easy to apply. Right now, they only released a few. They also released a new gel top coat, which supposed to make your nails last 7 days. That I haven’t tried since I find these nail polishes’ price, steep! They used to be $27 and now, they increased by 1 buck more. Geeezzz.
