Buongiorno! Ifa youa likea havinga reda lipsa, thena youa shoulda reada todaysa posta. Oh, wait? why are we speaking Italian here? Oh yeah, that’s because I was 1/16th Italian in my past life, hahaha, LOL. For the sake of being clearly understood here, let’s use the English language, and let’s get down to business.
Yves Saint Laurent recently released what they call their latest “revolutionary lip product,” the Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain. Yes, that’s how long the name is, go figure! YSL stated that this lip product combines the texture and shine of a gloss with a long-wear of a stain. For real?
YSL Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain in Rouge Laque – This is a bright red gloss/stain, which really feels more like a lipgloss and dries more like a stain. I am not a fan of this kind of red, it’s too bright for me. I kinda love this better when it dried since my lips were left with a muted red stain. You gotta be careful upon applying this because it tends to be thick and sticky like a real gloss with a lot of color. For me, this is very Vampire Diaries.
YSL Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain in Rouge Gouache – If Rouge Laque is like Vampire Diaries, this one is like True Blood. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the bloodiest of them all? this one my queen! It’s a dark red lipgloss/lip stain that is thick and sticky yet very lightweight. It’s also very hydrating and this particular red truly brightens your teeth.
YSL Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain in Corail Aquatique – If Rouge Laque is like Vampire Diaries and Rouge Gouache is like True Blood, this Corail Aquatique is like Twilight? Nope…this is more like Hunger Games. 🙂 gotta pale it down a little bit since you’re hungry, ha! Well, this color is not really pale. It’s just brighter than the other two, which makes it very wearable, especially during the day. This is my favorite among the three. I love its cute coral/pink shade and at the same time, it didn’t dry my lips. It’s also long-lasting and it leaves a pretty stain after hours of wear.
Infine, il mio amici, I love this line of lip product, but I would skip 1 and 2. I might get the coral aquatique in the future, but I’m still stuck in the “matte revival” period. Another thing I wanna point out is how nice the brush applicator is. It’s slanted with some short bristles that grabs the product’s contents well and glides on your lips precisely and perfectly. If this hybrid gloss/stain fusion is your thing, then perhaps you should give this a try. You can purchase them here
