Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour Review & Swatches, Part 2

chanel le vernis longwear nail colour reviews swatches

Hey guys and gurlz, since this month has been a month of adding additional products or colors to my collection of holy grail beauty products, and Chanel has been adding more shades to their newly-reformulated Chanel Le Vernis, I have also added a few more colors to my stash. The first part of this review can be seen HERE.

The new formulation of the Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polishes have been really amazing for me because of all the nail polishes I’ve tried lately, these new Chanel Le Vernis seem to last the longest on me. Around 2 weeks and a bit more. They have minimal chipping and the colors stay rich, especially if you use the Le Gel Top Coat (reviewed HERE) that is recommended with it.

I really like red nail polishes or vampy nail colors. There’s something just something about them that makes my hands/fingers look gorge. I guess because they make such a huge contrast against my medium skin tone, so each dark colors really pop out.

I purchased the Rouge Essentiel, Rouge Puissant first because I had my eyes on them from the moment I saw them online. Then I added Pirate and Rouge Noir because I have always been a fan of these two from the previous formulation, and I wanted to still have them in this newly-reformulated Chanel Le Vernis. And also because this new Le Vernis is much more long wearing than the previous one.

Take note that all the three reds in this review are so difficult to photograph because their colors are so close to each other. They ranged from bright red to a blue-toned dark red. In fact, you almost couldn’t tell the difference.

Rouge Essentiel – A true bright red color that has a very creamy consistency. One coat will do the job, but two coats will give extra richness to the shade. This is definitely an essential red for all seasons and for all skin colors.

Rouge PuissantMid-Red with a slight blue undertone. This color is so close (slightly lighter) to the Pirate shade that you almost can’t distinguish the subtle difference between the two. The only big difference is that this shade has a creamier consistency than Pirate. Actually, if you already have the Pirate shade, then you probably don’t need this. But if you find the Pirate shade to be a bit too dark, then you’ll probably be happy with this.

Rouge NoirBloody Mary Vampire-Red. It’s like Vamp but without the glitter. One of my favorite Chanel Le Vernis shades of all time. Yes, I prefer this over Vamp. This has a very rich deep dark red that is almost brown or black, but it actually looks like wine once applied. Though the first coat of this newly-reformulated shade seems a bit streaky, the second coat will make it perfect.

PirateBlue -toned deep red. Another classic deep red shade that I like the most from Chanel. This red is the ideal dark red that is not super vampy and not super bright either. It complements any skin tone and though it has always been streaky in both formulations, this shade is buildable and long lasting.

Chanel Le Gel Coat Longwear Top Coat Review

chanel le gel coat top coat review

What’s up coconuts? For a long long time I’ve never really bought the Chanel Top Coats because I thought they’ll never be like my favorite holy grail top coat (clue: 2 words, starts with letter S and V). Well tahday, that belief proved me wrong. I think I’ve found my new HG top coat, at least for my gel nail polishes, specially for the new Chanel Le Vernis which was reformulated in gel form not a long time ago. It’s the newest Chanel Le Gel Coat Longwear Top Coat. It’s created to enhance and extend the life of the new Chanel Le Vernis, and is meant to create a glossy and strong nail polish that will last for 7 days. Now that’s what I want!

The moment I applied this, I knew it’s going to be a keeper. The top coat itself has a slight strong odor but it fades away immediately. It has a nice wide brush which was surprising for me because the brushes found in the Chanel Le Vernis are usually thin and rounded, which makes them kinda tricky to apply. But this Chanel Le Gel Coat is so easy to apply and the formula spreads evenly around the nail polish. Best thing about it, is that it dries immediately upon application. I highly recommend this.

When I was thinking whether I should purchase the old Chanel Top Coat or this new Chanel Le Gel Coat, the S.A. at the Chanel beauty counter said without hesitation that the Le Gel is the better choice to buy, and yes, she’s definitely right.

So, I really really recommend this Chanel Le Gel Top Coat. I get a real 7 days of wear on this with minimal chipping and tip wear, while my nails stayed glossy and rock hard. I suggest using this with your favorite New Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour (reviewed HERE) or any gel nail polishes. Not sure whether this top coat will work with the non-gel polish, haven’t really tried. But to be safe, just use it with your favorite gel nail polish. For the non-gel ones, I still like to use Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, which is also loved by a lot of beauty junkies.

The Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour Review Part 1.

chanel le vernis collection

There’s just something about a woman with a Chanel nail polish. Whether it’s her beautiful, perfectly-shaped nails, her rich nail polish color, or just how perfect her hands looked on those nail polish. For years, Chanel nail polish triumph over other nail polishes for its richly-pigmented tone and fashion-forward hues.

chanel nail polish review

A leader on nail polish colors, always imitated but never been truly copied, here are the old-time classic cult favorites and bold new colors.

chanel nail polish pirate

Pirate:

Deep, dark red. A very classic Chanel color. A must for every woman who loves red, red, and more red. I’m not a fan of the consistency of this color though because it’s too fluid, I prefer the creamy gel-like consistency of most nail colors. This one needs to be applied 2 to 3 times to get the real color. Other than that, this is almost perfect.

chanel nail polish rouge noir

Rouge Noir:

Oh, My Bloody Valentine! or “Hello, The Originals”. I think of vampire red whenever I see this nail polish. That’s how dark red this is. I definitely think this is a perfect red for those with deep complexions because this makes for a dramatic contrast. This may be a bit too dark for me, but this is very sexy and very wearable nevertheless.

chanel nail polish dragon

Dragon:

Only two words. Think “Chinese Dragon”.

chanel nail polish cinema

Cinema:

A very cinematic vintage red. The kind that most old Hollywood stars would wear. Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe-alike, this is a creamy bright red that reminded me of OPI’s Chick Flick Cherry. I love this color a lot!

chanel nail polish lotus rouge

Lotus Rouge:

This is my most favorite red so far. It’s the kind of red that can top all reds. It’s a very alluring color and it looks good on all skintone. It also makes your hand very attractive and very glam.

chanel nail polish accessoire

Accessoire:

This shade is between brown and red. But, I would say that this is more on the red side. I think this can look quite vampy but can also look chocolatey. This is a very pretty color and this will look good especially during changing seasons. There’s something simple yet elegant about this color.

chanel nail polish taboo

Taboo:

Constellation galore! This is a very interesting color that will remind you of the cosmos. It’s like eggplant/violet/galaxy with a lot of glitter or shimmer of different colors. This reminded me of OPI’s Suzi And The 7 Dusseldorf but this is much darker, more complex, and way more intriguing to look at.

chanel nail polish vamp

Vamp:

This is Oma Thurman’s nail polish in Pulp Fiction. The controversial vampy red, brown, bloody color that commonly suggests a “Bad Girl Look”. Yet still, this isn’t a nail polish worth only for the spunky-attitude gals. Sophisticated and fashionable ladies love this for that uplifting vibe this nail color brings. This shade is very similar to Essie’s “Wicked“.
