Summer Sandal Favorites 2019

best sandals for the summer

Hi there! Summer will be almost over soon and I am definitely not quite over it. It’s still blazing heat, sun, and sweat from where I am. Although, I have a feeling that it’s all going to change soon. Anyway, let’s take a break from beauty talks for now. I’ve been meaning to share with you some of my favorite sandals this Summer. I’m planning to make this post a two-part (hopefully, if the weather permits) especially because I’ve got some lovely footwear to feature. For this post, I’m featuring some of the sandals I’m currently loving this season. I’m hoping that I will get the second part of this post done soon, and it’s all going to be about my favorite espadrilles.

So without further ado, let’s get this review going. Just a little FYI and overview, the following sandals that I’m going to feature are all flats, and they all have a similar minimalist functional style. I’ve collected them since last year and as you will see, they’re mostly either in neutral, black, or white colors, just because they work well in coherence with my wardrobe. For reference, I’m a true size 7 in almost all shoes/brands, my feet tend to be a tad wide on the front part but I usually fit a normal width. I’m also on the short side at 5’3, and my skintone is light-medium, although my legs tend to be lighter than my arms. So, here they are, check out my favorite sandals this season.

Dolce Vita

Found these beautiful minimalist, comfortable, and easy-to-wear sandals/slides when I was wandering inside Saks Off Fifth. They were on sale at the time I bought them and they’re still on sale now.

dolce vita chantel ring tab slides review

Chantel Ring-Tab Slides (29.99 USD) – This sandal is so comfy, so easy to wear, and they make my feet look cute. I love that I can slip this on my feet and go about my daily errands like a breeze.

dolce vita cain sandal slides review

Cain Sandals (29.99 USD) – Didn’t know I would be a big fan of crossover sandals because at first, it looks a little too dated. But, there’s a reason why this style keeps being on-trend. Simply because it does make the feet look slim.

tory burch miller flip flop

Tory Burch Miller Flip Flop (198 USD) – Ah, Tory, I have skipped your cult-favorite sandal/flip flops for a very long time. But this year, I pulled the trigger on this because even though I’m not much of a flip flop fan anymore, I do see the need for an elegant easy to wear slipper this Summer. This Tory Burch Miller is a beautiful step up to my usual comfy flip flops. I feel like I could go to a Summer business gathering with this.

givenchy logo slides

Givenchy Logo Slide (295 USD) – This fancy-schmancy slide puts a capital C in Comfort. Also, its minimalist and aesthetically pleasing design look very chic and very put together even on days when I go very casual. It simply elevates the look even when you don’t really care about what you’re wearing. You just put this on and you’d feel very relaxed and very carefree. This pair of slides may feel a bit wide at first, but this is perfect for when my feet start to swell from standing or even sitting all day and I had to slide into something really comfortable.

Madewell

This is my first time wearing Madewell sandals and I really don’t know why I haven’t tried them before. I really love their lace-up sandals this year and they work really well with just about any outfit, plus they add drama to the feet.

madewell the boardwalk laceup sandal review

The Boardwalk Lace-Up Sandal (On sale 35.70 USD) – This Grecian/Gladiator-style sandal makes me feel Iike I wish I was born in the time of Cleopatra or Jesus. (Ha! feelin’ like in the wrong time period, eh?). Yes, this beautiful pair of sandals really does make you feel like you’re traveling back in time but in a very chic way. It’s got the perfect balance of leather laces crisscrossing all over your feet and ankles. It goes well with cropped pants, jeans, mini skirts, and in this photo, with my favorite polka dot Mia skirt from Reformation in petite size.

madewell the boardwalk woven lace up sandal review

The Boardwalk Woven Lace-Up Sandal (Also on sale 35.70 USD) – A bit similar to the sandal above, but this one has a woven front that you can slip on and it has leather lace-ups all over the ankles. If you’re not much into the Grecian footwear style, then this beautiful minimalist pair of sandals might suit your fancy especially because this also goes well with any outfit and it has a bit of a slimming effect on the feet.

aldo campodoro shoes

Aldo Campodoro Sandals (49.98 – 60 USD) – I’ve been a fan of Aldo shoes for as long as I can remember. I love their affordable shoes and they even get more affordable especially when they’re on sale, and yes, they’re almost always on sale. I got their Campodoro sandals in Gold and Black as a replacement for my old sandals that I’ve worn for years. These sandals have a classic minimal-strap style and they seem to wear very well. I’ve got mine since the beginning of Summer last year and they still look great even at this time.

hermes oran sandals review

Hermes Oran Sandals (650 USD) – I have never stopped loving this sandal since the day I first had it. It goes well with almost all of my outfits and it’s very comfortable. The design is unique and minimalist, and the fit gets better with time. The leather tends to mold to the feet and it feels buttery. It also slims the feet and it goes well with cropped/ankle pants and long skirts. Reviewed further here.

Denim and pants shown here are from Gap and/or J.Crew, the Midi Polka Dot skirt is from Reformation, all linked down below.

What are the sandals you’re loving this Summer?

Hermes Oran Sandals Review

Hi Everybody! I’ve gotten some questions about my Hermes Oran Sandals in the last few weeks ever since I posted them on my Instagram, so I thought, I should probably do a review about it. I know a lot of you who own this sandal surely knows the experience of wearing this, and for those who haven’t, here’s my two cents.

hermes oran sandals

The Hermes Oran Sandal is a minimalist sandal that looks very chic. It has a sleek sophisticated design that is truly unique for a pair of sandals. It has a whole beach summer vibe that looks light and airy to wear, while it also has a relaxed lounging-around aesthetic. All these and more are what made this pair of sandals a versatile footwear.

Hermes Oran Sandals

My sandal is basically the basic Hermes Oran style available, which is a black calfskin with ecru stitching, hazelnut lining, and a leather sole. I purchased it in Europe about a year ago which costs me around 700 Euros, more or less, then I got a tax-free. So far, the official US price is $680. This sandal is pricey so I recommend at least seeing it in person and trying it before you make the splurge. This comes in different leathers and colors, but they all have that signature H style upper.

While this sandal may look lightweight and comfy, I find that it’s actually a bit heavy, or more like sturdy, to be precise. It is comfy indeed and you don’t really need to break it in. It even gets comfier with time when the leather stretches. I also think that it’s true to size, my feet are a true size 7 and I got mine in size 37. It fits really well. The thing about this sandal is that it has a slimming effect which makes my sort of wide elephant feet look quite elongated and slim. Even though the design looks very minimal, I never had an issue with it sliding off my feet, and ever since wearing it around regularly, like running errands and all, it still looks good even if the leather had already stretched a bit. I think these are really robust, well-made, and worth the splurge.

Hermes Oran Sandals review

I don’t think you can submerge this sandal on the beach though. Sure you can go beach walking and strolling around, but just to be on the safe side, try not wet it because it’s still leather, after all.

It’s really nice to have this in different colors, especially the whites and the blue tones. There are even two-toned ones that are also pretty. Overall, it’s a nice and fun sandal to have, and I love the pair that I got very much so. It’s totally comfy, chic, versatile, and durable. It’s great with jeans, pants, shorts, and skirts. You can wear it almost anywhere, whether inside the house or out and about, plus, your feet will always look slim and sleek. Just don’t forget to put on your favorite nail polish.

Stuart Weitzman NearlyNude, NudistJune & NudistFlat + Steve Madden Irenee Sandal Review

Hello There Stuart Weitzman fans! From their boots to their sandals, it seems like this brand is not only making good-looking footwear, but they’re also in tune with our feet’s comfort. I for one is a big fan of Stuart Weitzman shoes. Those 5050 boots, the Lowland, oh my… I may not own a lot of SW footwear but what I have are the ones I always seem to grab whenever I wanted something that looks well-put-together and comfy at the same time.

stuart weitzman nearlynude vs nudistjune vs nudistflat sandal review

I’ve been a sucker for their sandals since the ultra-high and celeb favorite Nudist was released, but they were too high for me. I’m not a well-heeled person, even if I love the way it looks on my feet and on others, but I just can’t bring myself to it. A 4-inch heel is like a death wish for me, LOL, a 3.5 will make me do a silent whimper on the corner, haha! so I like my sandals to be somewhat on the practical side because you’ll never know, what if there’s a fire or an earthquake and you need to run really fast? Hmmm, now that I think about it…

Well, anyway, Stuart Weitzman makes really pretty and comfortable sandals, so when I saw that he released a sandal that looked like a comfy version of the famous Nudist, I jumped into the “Nude” sandal bandwagon. First, there was the NearlyNude, a stock-heeled version of the Nudist with shorter heel height, followed by the NudistJune which a comfy, all-around, low-heeled, casual sandal. Then came the cute and pretty NudistFlat, which is simple but elegant. I also own the Steve Madden Irenee Sandal that I like to use whenever I feel like not using my SWs in rugged terrains, since all of them are made of suede. The Steve Madden Irenee sandal has a great heel height that is in between the NearlyNude and the Nudistjune.

Stuart Weitzman NearlyNude, NudistJune, & NudistFlat

stuart weitzman Nearlynude sandal review

NearlyNude ($398) – This has 3.25-inch heel height that comes in either leather, suede or cork. At first, I was a bit skeptical about this, because I was like “3 inches and something?” I wasn’t sure if my elephant feet could stomach the heel height. But actually, it doesn’t really feel like 3 inches and something at all. It feels very comfy and I was able to walk for an hour with this on a hilly cobblestone. Of course, you will still find yourself sitting from time to time to chillax your feet, but you’ll see that this is one of the comfiest pair of heels you’ll ever find.

stuart weitzman nudistjune

NudistJune ($375) – With a 1.6-inch block heel, this sandal gives the right amount of boost in height, making your feet look just a tad sexy. It’s extremely comfy that it almost feels like wearing a pair of flats, though not quite likely. The suede one looks very lush, feels very soft and very pliable which makes it quite tricky to put the strap on, so it’ll take a few seconds to get your footwear ready. Nonetheless, this is a great alternative to a pair of flats.

stuart weitzman nudistflat

stuart weitzman NudistFlat review

NudistFlat ($355) – Cute, simple yet sophisticated, this is the perfect all-around summer sandals. It has a 0.5-inch heel height that also comes in different colors and leathers. The suede version feels a lot firmer than the NudistJune’s, which might make the strap feel narrow, but still very comfy and doesn’t need to be stretched. Some of this particular style of sandals might be made in China, which is totally legit, so don’t be alarmed. They’re still made by Stuart Weitzman, and in fact, they felt a lot sturdier than the other SW sandals that are made in Europe.

steve madden Irenee sandal

Steve Madden Irenee Sandal ($40 & UP) – A good and affordable version of the SW minimalist sandals with a 2.25-inch block-heel height that comes in leather, denim, nubuck, and suede, each in different colors. It also has a thicker heel and a thicker strap than the SW minimalist sandals, which I also like and I also find to be cute. Now, there’s a Stuart Weitzman sandal that has a similar heel height to this, it’s called the Simple Sandal ($398), which has a 2.5-inch height that was released later on. It looks exactly like a low-heel version of the NearlyNude.

Stuart Weitzman NearlyNude, NudistJune, & NudistFlat Steve Madden irenee

The Stuart Weitzman minimalist sandals are available in different leathers and colors depending on the store that carries them. Nordstrom has all the NearlyNudes in leather and suede with all the different colors, as well as the NudistJune and the NudistFlat. Saks has a couple of shades of the suede version of the NudistFlat and a few unique shades of the NearlyNudes. Neiman Marcus carries the unique colors of the NudistJune with some denim and cork versions. You might even find them at a cheaper price in Amazon in which you’ll also find the Steve Madden Irenee sandal. You can also purchase them at Bloomingdales, Zappos, Net-A-Porter, MyTheresa, 6PM,  Bergdorf, Selfridges, Revolve, Moda Operandi, ShopBop, and stuartweitzman.com

Aren’t these sandals a sight to behold?
