Samples of The Week: Fresh, Dior, Tarte, Sunday Riley, Tory Burch & Burberry

Good day folks! Here’s another set of samples that I’ve been testing for this week’s review. The products that I’m about to mention are truly great, and most of them are worth having in regular sizes. There’s a lip treatment, a nourishing moisturizer, a scent for men, some lip swatches and a blush. I don’t remember where I got each sample, but I’m pretty sure most of them are from Sephora, and some may be from Nordies, if I’m not mistaken. So, without further ado, let’s start the review.

Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande, Burberry mr Burberry eau de toilette, tarte Amazonian clay 12-hr blush paaarty, Sunday Riley ceo moisturizer, dior rouge dior matte finish lipsticks, fresh sugar lip treatment perfecting wand

fresh sugar lip treatment perfecting wand review

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Perfecting Wand (0.1 oz: $24) – A lip treatment/exfoliator that smells or tastes like mango with lemon. It has loofah oil, cupuaçu and mango butter for moisturization, with black currant and grapeseed oil as antioxidants. This lip treatment has tiny sugar particles that’s meant to scrub and exfoliate the lips with its silicone or rubber-like wand applicator. Great for using every day and also as a lip conditioner at night. Though I didn’t notice much exfoliation with this lip treatment, I love that it keeps my lips moisturized overnight and it prevents my lips from drying even more. The silicon applicator feels great when massaged onto the lips, but it doesn’t necessarily exfoliate. The overall formula is great, it’s thick and it works very well if you are prone to dry chapped lips, though I think there could be some other products that may work just the same for a much lesser price tag.

rouge dior matte lipsticks

Dior, Rouge Dior Lipsticks, Matte Finish (0.12 oz: $35 ) – These are a few sample shades of the latest Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks. The formula is extremely matte and slightly drying, but long wearing for about 6-8 hours. The bubblegum/cotton candy scent can be a hit or a miss for some, but I actually like it a lot. There’s different shades in this particular finish and they seem to be wearable and quite pretty. Out of all the 4 shades swatched below, I like the 772 Classic Matte shade because it’s the most wearable shade of all. Delicate matte is too nude for me, 787 Exuberant Matte is too bright for a pink, more like an electric/neon pink, while 999 Matte is also good, but it’s too bright of a red for me. A fiery red that’s almost red-orange in tone.

tarte amazonian blush

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaarty (0.2 oz: $29) – Got this as a birthday gift from Sephora. I love shade of this sun-baked blush. It’s soft and wearable for a natural daytime look. It gives a subtle flush on the cheeks and it stays on for a long time. Don’t worry, this won’t make you look like Pikachu. LOL.

Sunday Riley C.E.O, C+E Antioxidant Protect + Repair Moisturizer review

Sunday Riley C.E.O, C+E Antioxidant Protect + Repair Moisturizer (1.7 oz: $65) – Never tried any Sunday Riley products before, and I could say that this long-named moisturizer is heavenly. With a superior and highly potent form of Vitamin C and some added antioxidants, this moisturizer is luxurious and it smells good, like an orange tart or an orange cream. It goes into the skin smoothly and it keeps it hydrated for a long time. A little too oily or too thick for my taste though, specially in this warming weather. Since this moisturizer has no Spf, I’d probably use this at night. Otherwise, I love this cream a lot and I could see this working well, because we all know that Vitamin C is really good for the skin.

tory burch Jolie fleur lavande

Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande (6ml Rollerball: $29, 50 ml: $95, 100 ml: $125) – A light scent of lavender with hints of magnolia and bergamot. It’s on the powdery floral side and is soothing and refreshing at the same time. Very long lasting as the scent could still be noticed the following day. It’s ideal for spring and has a nice and clean dry down.

mr Burberry eau de toilette

Burberry, Mr. Burberry Eau de Toilette (1.0 oz: $55, 1.6 oz: $68, 3.3 oz: $88, 5.0 oz: $115) – A scent for the modern man, it’s casual, it’s sensual and smart. With grapefruit and Guaiacwood, this scent is simply pleasing to the senses. It’s not musky, but more of a refreshing long lasting scent. I usually love men’s perfumes or colognes and this one is really good. Slightly similar to Hugo Boss Perfumes, but this one is more irresistible.

Verdict: I love this week’s samples a lot. If I have to buy them in full sizes, I’d say, I’ll probably purchase the Sunday Riley C.E.O Moisturizer, Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande, Mr. Burberry Eau de Toilette para mi esposo, a couple of Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks in shades of my choosing, and perhaps a few of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hr Blushes.

Samples of The Week: Clinique, OleHenriksen, AmorePacific, Smashbox & Tarte

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water,Amorepacific Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra-Gel Oil-Free,OleHenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator,Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Marine Boosting Mist

Hiya Everybody! Let’s talk about some samples today. I know we all love samples and you must have some in your stash right now. Don’t cha just love them? It’s so nice to try something in a miniature size before finally pulling the trigger to purchase the real deal. Most makeups or beauty products nowadays can cost quite a lot, and it’s really better to try them first to see if they’re worth the dollah. Speaking of samples, today, I have a few samples to share with you since I really like them a lot and had been testing them recently. These are the samples I usually obtain from Sephora Rewards Bazaar, or from other stores that gave free samples as part of your purchase.

Let’s take a look:

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight,Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water,Amorepacific Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra-Gel Oil-Free,OleHenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator,Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Marine Boosting Mist

  1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water – A makeup primer spray and a makeup setting spray at the same time. What an interesting blend this hybrid spray does. It’s devoid of any scent and doesn’t seem to cause any allergies or break out. At least my skin did not. I tried this as a primer, but it didn’t seem to work very well. In fact, I didn’t notice anything at all. It was as if I didn’t use any primer on my face. I found myself still using the original Smashbox Primer to prep my face prior to my foundation. As a setting spray, I thought this was just ok. Didn’t see much difference. However, as an everyday spray to hydrate and refresh the face, I find that this particular product works really well. It’s also great for oily skin because it’s non-sticky, lightweight and makes your face look slightly dewy. Comes in two sizes: 1 oz for $16 and 3.9 oz for $32.

  1. Amorepacific Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra-Gel Oil-Free – A lightweight gel moisturizer that smells like a light floral perfume. I love how it gets absorbed by my skin so easily and my face felt supple after using it. It seems to keep my skin moisturize even after several hours and had calmed down some redness around my cheeks. I even love how cute and practical the container is, because it has a tiny mirror on top, ideal for quick touchups. The only downside is the price. The regular 1.7 oz size costs $100.

  1. Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight – Got this from Sephora rewards bazaar. I was surprised by the size of this sample. I thought it looked more like a full size product because the tube is thick and quite large, but much to my surprise, there’s really not much product in it. Anyway, I’m impressed with this highlighter. First, it’s so easy to use. Just swipe and blend, then you’re set. Second, I love the soft pearl shade because it doesn’t look over the top. Third, the creamy formulation is so easy to work around the face. So far, there’s only one shade and one size of this particular highlighter. I would love to see more colors in the future because I really like this product. It’s $23 for 0.21 oz.

  1. OleHenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator – A heaven-sent menthol-scented moisturizer that’s perfect for anybody with an oily skin or prone to it, like yours truly. It’s also good for any skin type and it really works very well to control the oil. In fact, it keeps my skin mattified for 6-8 hours. I love this already, I swear. It’s also very lightweight and feels very refreshing. Love the eucalyptus coolness on my face whenever I put this on. Also, this doesn’t dry my skin, but just well-balanced and prevents my makeup from melting. Comes in 1.7 oz for $34.

  1. Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Marine Boosting Mist – I may have discovered another great face mist. Yep, it’s this one. It was love at first spray, though the spray seems to deliver large mists, but I am so in love with the scent of this product. It’s so irresistible, like a fresh tangerine or citrus. It smells just like Tarte Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost Moisturizer which I also like a lot. This mist is very hydrating and very refreshing. I can see myself using this for the winter and also this coming summer. 2-3 sprays give a long lasting effect and my face looks refreshed and glowy. It can also be used as a primer and a setting spray. I just love how versatile this mist is, plus it’s vegan. Available in 2 sizes; 1.01 oz for $12 and 2.5 oz for $25.

Verdict: I love all these samples that I’ve tried, though I might skip on the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I will definitely purchase the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight, OleHenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator, and Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Marine Boosting Mist in full sizes.

Have you tried any of these samples yet?

Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint Review

tarte tarteist quick dry matte lip paint swatch review

Happy Hearts Day Folks! I hope everyone’s feeling the love this V-day. Whether you’re gonna be an orphan or has a date in this day of love, make sure you slay your lip game. What better way to nail that perfect pout than to try Tarte’s newly-improved matte liquid lipsticks. Yes, their previous matte liquid lipsticks weren’t that good and they don’t really turn into a matte texture, swatched HERE. They’re still available and are called Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints.

The newly-released and promising matte liquid lipsticks from Tarte are named Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paints. And yes, they’re true to their description. They do dry quickly. Like, really really quick, and they don’t budge. Only a waterproof micellar water or makeup remover could take these new lippies off. They come in different shades that are very wearable (lots of nudes and mauves) with a mild non-irritating vanilla scent. Each tube costs $20. Available HERE.

When Tarte released these Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint, I was so excited, because they really make good compatible colors that suit my skin tone, and we all know that their previous matte liquid lipsticks were not exactly what everyone hoped they’d turn out to be. Yet these new Quick Dry Matte Lip Paints deliver an almost perfect matte liquid lipstick in the same caliber as Kat Von D, Stila, Too faced, Smashbox and Anastasia. Well-pigmented, creamy, lightweight, waterproof, transfer-proof, long-lasting and quick-drying.

tarte tartest quick dry matte swatch

  • Rose´ Rosy Nude. Looks more of a nude-beige shade on my pigmented lips, but not nude enough to make me look washed-out. The perfect nude shade for anyone with a neutral to warm skin tone.
  • BounceRose Coral. Seems like a twin of Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare. A gorgeous blend of muted reddish/pinkish coral with a hint of cocoa. This color is so meant for Valentines.
  • DelishRosy Mauve. My favorite “my lips but better” in a matte liquid lipstick formulation. This simply gives my lips enough drama without looking like I’m vying for the Oscars, lol, joke. Definitely, this is not too bright and not too dark. Take note that this shade is quite similar to the Front Row shade, pictured on top.
  • Front RowDeep Mauve. A shade almost identical to Delish, but slightly darker. This has a brownish tone, like a blend between Kat Von D Lolita and Lolita II. It is a beautiful shade especially for medium skin tones and can be worn for any occasion.

I really really like these new Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paints by Tarte. Although they focused quite a bit on having more nude colors, they also have a decent selection of muted mauves, cocoa browns and wearable reds in their newly-improved matte liquid lipstick line. Just a bit of drawback though, even though these lipsticks are almost perfect to me, they may feel a bit too drying sometimes, but that seems to be almost always the case with good matte liquid lipsticks. Something’s gotta give.

Happy Valentines Day Again Friends!
