Trixie Mad Scientist For Cats

trixie mad scientist for cats review

Meow There Cat Lovers! I got this cat toy that’s been in my “saved for later” list in Amazon for quite a while now, but it’s just recently that I pulled the trigger to finally purchase it for my cats. It’s a cute puzzle toy for cats to solve and have fun. It’s called Trixie Mad Scientist For Cats. Basically, cats will bat on those test tube-shaped plastics (with holes on top) filled with treats, then those treats will fall down to a maze-like catcher at the bottom. The cats will then have to find a way for those treats to be out of the maze in order to eat them. Sounds like fun.

trixie mad scientist for cats assembly review

This toy requires assembly. But don’tcha worry because assembling the parts together is fairly easy and requires very little time. You just have to screw the two triangular-shaped foundations on the bottom of the maze-like square base, facing each other. Screws are provided, you’ll just need a screwdriver. Next, the blue plastic test tubes come in different lids with pre-made holes of different sizes, you need to pick a lid  (for starter, I suggest the one with the widest hole, just for training purposes) then throw in some cat treats on each tube and screw the lid on the plastic test tube itself. Now, unscrew the end of the metal rod for it to go through the pre-made holes on the side of each triangular foundations, straight right through the holes of the plastic tubes. Finally, screw the metal-rod covering to prevent the tubes from slipping and making them secure together. Don’t screw too much or screw tightly or else the tubes won’t rotate. Now it’s time to call your curious cats.

My cats were immediately curious about this Trixie Mad Scientist Puzzle Cat Toy, though they seemed unsure at it first, but when they smelled the treats inside, they’re like “Is that a Piñata?” 🙂 So the batting and pouncing went on. Getting the treats out of the maze were a breeze. Eventually, they seemed to have settled on a mutual agreement. Frodo will do the hard work while Gatsby will wait for the treats to come out. Hmmm, somebody found a slave… 🙂  Cats…

See you next time. Happy Weekend.

Comfort Zone Feliway Review

feliway comfort zone

Hallo! During my last “Pet Stuff” post, somebody was having fun with his new toy. Now, somebody’s acting like a scaredy cat. Well, he’s always been like that, and I think it’s genetic. Some cats are born to be a mojito cat. You know the kind, according to Cat Daddy Jackson Galaxy, mojito cats are the type that serves you a mojito the moment you open that door. The kind that greats you all the time, the friendly and daring kind. Whilst some cats are exactly the opposite. The scaredy cats, the stressed-out ones in the world, the anxious, cautious and fearful ones. They are the kind of cats who hide at the slightest noise and they can be difficult to manage, as some may resort to markings, destructions and aggressions.

Well, guess who’s the scaredy cat? Is it Dodo or Bibi?…..guess…nope…it’s not Dodo. He is the mojito cat in the family. And yes, the scaredy cat is the very cute Bibi. Ever since he was a kitten, he’s always been the nervous wreck. You can’t tell by the look on that pudgy face, but he gets scared very easily, specially when there’s strangers in the house, or when someone is talking loudly. Even a slight noise or worse, the dreaded visit to the vet. It’s a struggle to get him to see the vet, he doesn’t like being in the crate or in the car. He screams and pants like crazy. Though he tries to be patient during examinations but eventually he’ll hiss and hide if it’s too much. He’s not an aggressive mean cat, in fact, he’s very affectionate but he only chooses the people that he likes. Darn loyal kitty!

We’ve tried stroking him, giving reassurances in a calming voice, giving him his favorite toys during each Veterinarian visit, minimize noise as much as possible, snacks, treats, foods, etc… didn’t work. So I went and ordered these Feliway/Comfort Zone (they’re essentially the same, Feliway is the original name) in Amazon. It’s a plug-in diffuser made out of the concept of Pheromonatherapy. It’s basically a synthetic friendly pheromone taken from a cotton swab of cat’s cheeks to help scaredy cats cope in anxiety-inducing situations or in any behavioral problems like fighting and marking. Just plug this in an electrical outlet and you won’t even sense anything. Don’t cover it or place it behind the door. You need to place it in an area where your cat usually hangs around. This will cover an area of 50-70 sqm and will last for about a month. Also, it’s affordable, you can buy it here.

Bibi has never been the aggressive type, he just doesn’t like being in unfamiliar waters, but since he’s the anxious type, he’s definitely responded to Feliway. I noticed that he’s not as nervous as before and he tends to calm down easily. Also, going to the vet is not that hard anymore, just rub a bit of this diffuser on his blanket and he calms down a bit. Of course, he’s not gonna be totally anxious-free but at least it helps. It’s not a dangerous, addicting or toxic drug, so it’s completely safe for your pets. It’s also not a cure, but a way to cope in tense situations. As of now, I almost don’t need it as my cat is slowly getting used to strangers and didn’t exhibit that much signs and symptoms of anxiety. Bibi is becoming a happy cat because of brother Dodo and thanks to Comfort Zone/Feliway.

If you also have a scaredy cat, try Feliway/Comfort Zone here.

See yah! gotta go catch some pokemon 🙂

PetSafe Cheese Toy Review

petsafe cheese toy

What’s the matter peanut butter?  Somebody’s been having fun lately, because he’s got a new toy! To find out which one, well, let’s take a closer look at this newly purchased toy from none other than

I have been eyeing this toy for quite some time now. I kinda like its aesthetics and it seems like it would really brighten up the day of my fat, lazy and sleepy cats. As soon as Amazon decreased the price, I immediately added this PetSafe Cheese Toy to my shopping cart and since I’m an Amazon Prime Member, Voila! after 2 days, I received the toy and off I went into unboxing. Btw, Amazon is a great place to buy cat toys at a much cheaper price, and it’s a lot better if you’re a prime member, so you’ll receive your item lightning fast. If you’re not a prime member yet, click HERE. Trust me, prime membership is still worth it. 🙂 and oh yeah! don’t forget, PRIME Day is tomorrow. So hurry up!

This “cheese lookalike” cat toy works like a peek-a-boo toy for cats. It has two holes, one on each side in which every hole has a mouse coming in and out. It’s cute and it’s funny, and can definitely accommodate two cats playing on each side.

This toy’s play session lasts for about 10-15 minutes, in which after that, it’ll automatically turns itself off. It also runs on three AA batteries, which were not included in the package. You can also program the toy for “play while you’re away.” By that, meaning this toy will automatically starts another play session after 2 hours of the last interactive play and then another session 2 hours after that.

Verdict: My cats loved this toy at the beginning, but once my smart cat figured it out, he got bored and left. While my other cat, the absent-minded one, had a lot of fun hunting the mouse and is still enjoying it nowadays. I think this is a pretty simple and straightforward toy designed to make your life easier by not making your cats rely on you during their playtime. While I like the concept, I just wish that the mice were not coming out in the same cheese hole, so as to prolong the pets interest and minimize boredom.

So which cat has been having fun? It’s Frodo “Dodo!!!”
