Clarins Water Lip Stain Review + Swatches

clarins water lip stain review and swatches

In today’s mask-wearing world, it is pretty much common sense not to wear any lip gloss. Anything that is shiny and sticky on the lips is a no-no, because it will not only attract hair strands but will also stick and stain any face mask. In fact, even some sticky and heavy lip balms can cause such disaster.

Currently, I am using some lightweight, non-sticky, and staining lip balms like the ones from Dior and Nars. I l also like the ones from Laneige and Glossier for very sheer lip colors, and they are reviewed HERE and HERE. Also, I am investigating some matte tinted lip balms and will report to you soon.

In my quest for that perfect pandemic lip balm :-), I discovered these fantastic lip stains from Clarins, and though these are not new releases, I find that these are perfect lip products to use for constant virtual meetings. Yes, I have been living my life in Zoom after Zoom like a lot of us, and I prefer the look of sheer lip products instead of full-shade lipsticks just because the sheer ones give an au-naturel look.

These Clarins Water Lip Stain are probably some of the best lip stains I have ever tried, and I have tried my luck on several staining lip products before, but I always end up getting disappointed. These lip stains do feel like water and have fruity scents. On the outside, these may look like Merthiolate (lol, if you know what that is, then you know some serious vintage medicine ๏Š), but once applied, you will find that these products really do stain the lips very well. In fact, these are so staining that it is a challenge to get rid of the stain, especially the darker shades.

02 โ€“ Orange Water โ€“ true orange stain

03 โ€“ Red Water โ€“ bright red

One thing to note is that these products tend to stain the innermost part of the lips, which also has the thinnest skin. So, these will give you that ombrรฉ lip effect, or that K-pop lips. I think that these are perfect for layering, and you will not feel any stickiness from these products. The colors are also beautiful, vibrant, and very long-wearing. Even the whole tube will most likely last a long time because a little bit of the product can stain the entire lips.

I highly recommend these, especially when you are out and social distancing. These won’t interfere with your face mask and will not dry your lips. These are also perfect for Zooming.

New Glossier Haul

Glossier Skincare favorites

Happy New Year friends! What a terrible previous year we had. Iโ€™m hoping and wishing for better days ahead as we start this promising new year. Speaking of new year, here are my new Glossier skincare haul.

Balm Dotcom โ€“ This might be my most favorite product from Glossier ever, and that is because Iโ€™m able to use the balm for different purposes. Be it as a lip balm, a sheer lip color, or as a skin salve. Each of the balm has different scents/flavors and each are so fun to use. Youโ€™ll never get bored using them.

Glossier Balm Dotcom Mango

Berry โ€“ Sheer berry tint. The strong berry scent of this is yummy and irresistible.

Wild Fig โ€“ Deep coral tint. This is the latest addition in Glossierโ€™s Balm Dotcoms and itโ€™s really good. Much like the Berry one, this is also irresistibly sweet in scent.

MangoSheer rose tint. A repeat purchase for me. The fresh sweet mango scent of this awakens you right after twisting the cap and itโ€™s so good. Words cannot describe how amazing this is.

Exfoliating Skin Perfector โ€“ Exfoliating toners are trending in the skincare world nowadays and thereโ€™s a reason why โ€“ they really help to reduce blackheads and they give you a nice glow. I have my favorites in exfoliating toners for sure and will be talking about them here in the blog soon. One of my faves is actually this Glossier Skin Perfector, which is not only convenient to use, it also works well at purifying the pores and getting rid of dead skin cells. This product has powerful Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA), as well as Salicylic Acid. I really love this a lot and I can use this everyday (once a day) without any issues.

Zit Stick โ€“ At first glance, this blemish eraser stick spells convenience to me. However, it may not be as practical to use as you may think. Yes, itโ€™s a twist-to-release type of product, pretty much like using a pen applicator, yet itโ€™s not really as easy as it looks. For a while, I thought I got a broken product or the packaging just simply doesnโ€™t work. But as it turns out, itโ€™s going to take some serious twisting and churning at the other end of the packaging, in order to see some products coming out. For me, it works as it is expected because it has 5% Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid to combat any raging pimples.

Glossier Zit Stick review

Bottom line, I love Glossier skincare products and I love that they try to be on trend and innovative with their stuff. I definitely recommend that you try the products above if you havenโ€™t already. I will be removing more Glossier products soon.

Happy New Year! Wishing for the best this 2021!

Glossier Generation G (New Formula) Sheer Matte Lipstick Review + Swatches

glossier generation g sheer matte lipstick new formula jam, leo, like

Hi guys, a few weeks ago, I did a mini Glossier haul review which you can read HERE. In that review, I was really smitten by their reformulated Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick (0.1 oz: 18 USD).

The new Glossier Generation G lipstick has a blotted sheer matte look and finish with a slightly balmy feel. There are six shades available and some of them sort of adapt to the natural lip color. I wouldn’t say that this lipstick is super pigmented, instead, it’s more of an everyday lip color which still allows for the natural lip shade to show through. The product itself is cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, dermatologist-tested, etc., and the packaging is nice and heavy. Because it is definitely meant for a casual natural look, the effect of this lipstick can be quite subtle or diffused, but the nice thing is that you can always swipe a little bit more for a slightly dramatic lip color payoff.

In this review, I swatched all the new Glossier Generation G colors.

Cake: subtle peach. Kind of a light-peachy nude which my light-medium skintone could pull off.

Crush: hot raspberry pink, quite similar to the Dior Matte Raspberry Lip Glow, seen HERE.

Like: light-mauve in real life, like a light version of the Jam shade below. This gives a “My lips but slightly better” look, and also great for the “I woke up like this” look, LOL.

Zip: poppy red. A blotted red-orange coral.

Leo: mid brown, same shade as the old Leo formula.

Jam: deep berry, darker tone of Like.

The newest Glossier Generation G has a subtle yet distinctive rose/jasmine scent. Its new formula feels smoother and more cushiony than the previous one. Which means, this doesn’t make the lips dry. It definitely isn’t shiny or even satiny, it’s just a pure sheer comfortable balmy matte. The pigment can be very sheer at first swipe, especially in the case of the “Like” shade which took a couple more swipes on my pigmented lips for it to show through. But one thing’s for sure, the Generation G in its new formulation is definitely buildable and easy to use, plus, it enhances the lips beautifully.

The closest formula that I could think of in comparison to this is the Dior Lip Glow in Matte finish. Perhaps the Buxom Pillowpout (reviewed HERE) could be comparable as well, but that one has more of a powdery feel. I have yet to investigate the Nyx Powder Puff Lippie Lip Cream which some said could be close to the Gen G in terms of its blotted matte finish.

Overall, I love the new formula more than the old one. The previous Gen G was with time just too drying for me. Though you may still have to swipe this lipstick on the lips a couple of times to get your desired lip color and effect, but once you get it, then the effect is really nice. I also love all the shades even though some can be quite subtle. Most of them last about 3 hours+ on me without eating or drinking, but if I munch too much then they usually last about 2 hours give or take, so you may still need to reapply this lipstick several times. However, they’re foolproof to apply, so it’s not a prob. I highly recommend this lipstick if you’re into that everyday natural lip look.
