best matte liquid lipstick

Pixi by Petra MatteLast Liquid Lip Review

Hello Guys! I went Target-ing a couple of days ago with one specific mission in mind, to take a look at some Pixi Beauty products. Guess what, there were a lot of stuff I liked and I was really confused as to which product I should buy.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Pixi beauty products and judging from what I saw in Target, I felt like I didn’t wanna leave. I enjoyed gazing at the sheer amount of pastel green tubes, compacts, containers, and bottles in the Pixi beauty aisle, which is a refreshing take compared to some of the ultra-glossy and saturated beauty packaging nowadays. I really wanted to take home their Highlight & Contour Palette (Strobe & Sculpt) but I also couldn’t take my eyes off their MatteLast Liquid Lip ($14). In the end, I bought three of them.

Here are the swatches:

Pastel PetalBeige Nude. Slightly too nude for me, but still wearable for that edgy look, especially if you dramatize your eye makeup. This is a great shade if you have a fair to light skin complexion.

Really RoseRosy Brown. I love this perfect blend of muted rose and brown. The rose is almost like a coral-brick that looks really good on any skin tone.

Evening RoseMauve Brown. Another well-crafted shade that looks one or two shade darker than the Really Rose. This really makes for a beautiful pout.

The packaging is solid and well-done, except for the brush applicator that seems a little too soft for me. I find that I prefer a firm and sturdy brush applicator for any liquid lipsticks even the mattes, because it makes it easier for me to define or line the edge of my lips.

Other than that brush applicator that could do some improvements, this MatteLast Liquid Lip is almost perfect. It settles like a true matte liquid lipstick and it’s not too drying. It is transfer-proof and really long lasting. It also smells like a fruity bubblegum. I also find it to be comforting on the lips and really lightweight. On top of that, it’s even well-pigmented, and even though there were only 5 shades released, the colors are universally flattering. My only regret is not buying them all.

Bottom line, the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip is a really good and well-done matte liquid lipstick. It is comparable to a lot of fan-favorite matte liquid lipsticks out there but with an affordable price tag. All the shades are gorgeous and they really look good on everyone’s lips.

Now, I can’t wait for my next Target escapade. Aren’t you?

BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor Review

Hello Monday Guys! Have you checked out the latest matte liquid lipsticks from BareMinerals? They actually have two lineups, one for the nude shades called the Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolors and another one with bolder colors which are called Statement Matte Lipcolors. They’re pretty the same in terms of formulation but I kinda prefer the shades in the Gen Nude line, not to mention that there’s 20 of them.

These Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolors from BareMinerals (0.13 oz $18) are cream to matte liquid lipsticks that’s ideal for anyone who loves matte liquid lipsticks but couldn’t stand the drying effect of it, and also especially for those who already suffers from dry lips. The formula of these lipsticks is lightweight and pretty much comfortable. I love the light cocoa scent and I also like that they’re very well-pigmented and very wearable.

The closest liquid lipstick in comparison to these is the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (reviewed HERE), but I think these BareMinerals Gen Nudes are slightly creamier. Though the effect is matte, these doesn’t really dry down like most matte liquid lipsticks, instead, they just kinda settle into a velvety matte effect. They’re definitely not transfer-proof, but no worries because these are so pigmented that the colors won’t even fade from your lips.

Finding the right shade or shades of these creamy matte lipsticks can be quite a challenge because there’s a lot to choose from. Eventually, I settled on two shades that I really love, one is a muted pinkish beige and the other is a muted rosy mauve.

Bo$$Dirty Pink Beige. Such a badass name for a lipstick, don’tcha think? This shade will definitely make you feel like the boss because it’s a beautiful warm pinkish beige that looks very natural and also sort of edgy. This would be great as an ideal everyday lip color that’s similar to Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Fawn No. 05.

JujuDeep Rosy Mauve. I don’t know where they got this name, but whatever it is or whatever it means, I love this shade. It’s one of those perfect muted rose shades that you can wear anytime in any kind of day.

I find the packaging of these lipsticks to be somewhat simple but sturdy. Even the brush applicator is also sturdy and it applies precisely on the lips. For the price, well, it’s hard to complain since these are slightly more affordable than the other matte liquid lipsticks out there.

Overall, I’d give these lipsticks a 4 to 4.5 because I love their non-drying effect and I love the colors that are available. They’re great as everyday lip colors especially for those who loves matte-textured lipsticks.

What d’ya think of these?

The BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor is available at QVC, Ulta and Sephora

Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks Review

Since my last โ€œSamples of The Weekโ€ Review, Iโ€™ve been testing a few Rouge Dior Matte Finish Lipsticks. But, in order to do that, I needed to try and swatch them in real life and see the colors exactly with my own eyes. Iโ€™ve seen these lippies before and Iโ€™ve even swatched them several times before, but I just couldnโ€™t bring myself to purchase one because I find the shades to be mostly in the reddish side. I wasnโ€™t bothered by the texture nor the scent, but I wanted more warm neutrals, muted plums, rosewoods and brick tones in it, so I guess I waited a bit more to see if there were more shades being released.

Fortunately, it seems like Diorโ€™s been listening and theyโ€™ve released a couple of limited edition shades every season. These shades are somewhat more inclined to my fancy and with my recent Samples of The Week Post (found HERE), I fell in love with the Rouge Dior 772 Classic Matte Shade. This whole lineup of Rouge Dior Matte Finish Lipsticks have more variety of shades now than when it was reformulated and released I think about a year ago. In fact, the whole range of Rouge Dior Lipsticks have been reformulated and enhanced with more shades to choose from. Apart from the popular matte finish, these lipsticks also come in satin finishes and shimmers as well.

Packaging is really sleek. These lipsticks come in black/silver tube with a black cap on the outside and red lining inside. I donโ€™t dislike the scent, but some may find it to be too much. At first, I thought they smell a bit like baby powder and cotton candy, but the more I use them, I sensed the hint of musky jasmine in it. The texture can be a bit drying as Iโ€™ve said before, but itโ€™s lightweight and pretty much long-lasting. Theyโ€™re well pigmented too. Mine lasts 4-6 hours of wear with some traces of colors still visible on my lips. The price is perhaps one of the main caveat of these lipsticks. Each costs $35 so you really need to choose wisely. Other than that, I really enjoyed these lippies and I recommend them to each and every one of you.

Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks Review

  • 772 Classic Matte โ€“ A neutral muted pinkish shade that I first fell in love with upon trying it from a sample. Itโ€™s the perfect everyday lip color and it doesnโ€™t look over the top. Definitely a classic shade that works for any skin tone.
  • 745 Terrific Matte โ€“ A muted rosewood shade that is probably my most favorite color of all the Rouge Dior Matte Finish lipstick line. This shade might be kinda hard to find because I think this is a limited edition for Spring 2017, so Iโ€™d better stock up on this color asap.
  • 951 Absolute Matte โ€“ I love red lipsticks, but bright reds donโ€™t love me, lol. Red bricks do. So I went and took this shade with me home. I love muted reds and this shade is the best red I could pull off.

Overall, I love these Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks much. If you can stomach the price, I think theyโ€™re reliable and so worth it, just donโ€™t sell your kidney for it, lol! Anyhow, I recommend you try at least one or two perhaps and see it for yourself. Alrighty?
