Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Stain Review + Swatches

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Stains

Hello gorgeous! I am back from a two-week hiatus. Been so busy lately that I lost track of time. Time for me goes by so fast, like the speed of light. My days are mostly spent writing, thinking, and trying to solve puzzles (insert Coldplay โ€” The Scientist, lol). Oh, I miss them Pre-Covid days. Those glam days of endless eyeliners on fleek and sharply contoured cheeks! I still wear lipsticks nowadays, but I stay away from glosses. I wear mattes or lip stains most of the time, and Iโ€™ve been testing these very intriguing lip stain from Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Anastasia Lip Stain review

These lips stains are so interesting because they are what I would call as great dupes for the Dior Lip Tattoo (swatched HERE). I love that Dior lip product so much, even though some folks had mixed feelings about it. These Anastasia Lip Stains, on the other hand, are almost similar to the Dior Lip Tattoo in a lot of aspects. The consistency and the brush applicator, for example, are reminiscent of the Dior Lip Tattoo. Both have fluid consistencies and both have angled brush applicators. In fact, both even have the same matte packaging, except for the Dior one looking a little bit fancier.

However, there are some subtle differences that I noticed between the two. The Anastasia Lip Stains give a slightly sticky feel a few minutes after application. They also seem to be somewhat streaky, and the shades tend to pile up instead of blending seamlessly on the lips. Also, each shade of the tube does not really match the shade of the product inside or when applied. The true shades tend to pull twice or even three times darker than the shade of the tubes. So, I have to be very light-handed with my application. These lip stains are SOOO staining that I had a hard time getting rid of them from my lips. A one light swipe on the lips will pretty much be enough

These lip stains are lightweight, but you will feel that slight stickiness. They wonโ€™t dry your lips, but they somewhat emphasize the lip lines. The colors may be so vivid and so pigmented, but you will have a hard time removing them. They will not transfer on your mask, but if you make a mistake of applying more than two coats of these, donโ€™t plan to get out of the house (lol), or else you will scare the neighborhood pets away :D. Kk?

Lancome Matte Shaker High Pigment Liquid Lipstick

Lancome Matte Shaker Lipstick

What’s Up Guys! Here’s a nice alternative to the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick or the Dior Lip Tattoo with a slightly different twist or more like a shake. The Lancome Matte Shaker (0.20 oz: $22) is a lightweight and highly pigmented liquid lipstick that’s unique and entirely different from most liquid lipsticks. It’s cute and it applies using a cushion applicator that acts like a sponge to absorb the product. Kinda like its sibling, the Lancome Juicy Shaker. It’s innovative and it’s pretty interesting.

To apply, all you have to do is shake the product and swipe the cushiony and spongy applicator on your lips. Easy peasy, though I find that the applicator doesn’t always allow for a precise application. Still, it’s pretty doable. There’s not much scent on the formula, only a slight hint of something fresh and something floral, but not soapy.

Lancome Matte Shaker High Pigment Liquid Lipstick

This Lancome Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick feels very thin and super lightweight like there’s almost nothing on your lips. It more of a lip stain like the Dior Lip Tattooย (reviewed HERE) and I think the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet (reviewed HERE) is slightly creamier than this. Yet they all share that same highly pigmented formula. The thing I find with this is that it’s kinda drying unlike the others and it tends to settle into the very fine lines of the lips, but it’s not too bad.

Once this settles, the effect is satiny and it looks pretty cute. It’s also very long lasting and really staining. On the other hand, I noticed that I don’t seem to like the range of shades that were released. First, there’s not a lot of them. Second, the shades are more on the bright or neon-ish side. What’s even more surprising is that the colors on the tubes don’t really seem to match well on the lips. The 272 Energy in Peach shade that I tried in Sephora looked very different on the bottle and on the arm swatch, so I just skipped on that.

270 Beige VintageBeige Nude. It’s a pretty shade, but not so vintage-looking on my lips. It’s a little too bright once applied, almost glowy like a neon coral, but once it settles, it looks more muted, yet still not so nude of a beige.

374 Kiss Me CherieDeep Brick Red. Pretty shade that looks more like a slightly bright red-pink on me, even though it looks like a rich bright red on the tube. Kinda reminds me of Dior Lip Tattoo in Natural Berry shade, only a lot brighter.

Overall, I find this Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick from Lancome to be a really good alternative to the Dior Lip Tattoo and Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet. It’s lightweight, well-pigmented, and it doesn’t transfer once it settles on the lips. It may take a few minutes for it to dry down, just like the Lip Tattoo and even the Lip Magnet, but this won’t smudge once it’s settled. Plus, the Matte Shaker is also more affordable and has a unique and cute packaging. The cushion applicator is not so bad either.

Dior Lip Tattoo Review

Hello! This is going to be an exciting review because weโ€™re gonna be talking about Diorโ€™s latest lip sensation, the Dior Lip Tattoo or the Dior Addict Lip Tint ($30). Itโ€™s just been released recently and was sold out in Sephora for a few weeks. They might have restocked on a few colors now, but Iโ€™m pretty sure those wonโ€™t last. This is definitely a lipstick worth hoarding for. Itโ€™s meant to be a no-transfer weightless lip tint that stains the lips like a tattoo for at least 10 hours, according to Dior Beauty. It can be worn alone or can be used as a lip primer. That seems really promising, right?

Dior Lip Tattoo Review

First of all, I love the look of this Dior Lip Tattoo. The packaging is so cute and pretty. So Dior. It feels matte with the Dior brand embossed on one side of it. The brush applicator is small, precise and robust. When you first twist the cap, you could sense a menthol-vanilla-ish scent. Upon application, youโ€™ll notice a slight cooling effect on the lips and the formula is very fluid. Itโ€™s definitely not like your most matte liquid lipsticks. This one feels more like a liquid lip stain, to the tune of Giorgio Armaniโ€™s Lip Magnet, only slightly cheaper.

It may take a few more swipes before thereโ€™s enough coverage on your lips due to this productโ€™s liquid and slightly streaky nature. It kinda settles on the fine lines of your inner lips, but itโ€™s not sticky nor very drying like most matte liquid lipsticks. Though it may eventually slightly dry your lips after hours and hours of wearing it, but you can always top it with your favorite lip gloss or lip balm.

Once the product settles, perhaps around 3-5 minutes, itโ€™ll definitely become transfer-proof, kiss-proof and bullet-proof, LOL. But yeah, itโ€™s true, the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo wonโ€™t budge. The effect is more like a lip stain or a very soft matte. Itโ€™s very long-lasting as well. I get a good 6-8 hours and beyond of wear on this. Taking it off can be a challenge because itโ€™s super staining that a waterproof makeup remover might struggle to get rid of it. But seriously, who wants to get rid of this lipstickโ€™s beautiful shade?

  • Dior Lip Tattoo in 491 Natural Rosewood โ€“ Love the versatility of this shade. The muted dusty rose hue will definitely fit on everyoneโ€™s natural lip color and itโ€™s so great for everyday wear. This should definitely be the โ€œmy lips but betterโ€ kind of shade.

  • Dior Lip Tattoo in 771 Natural Berry โ€“ Gorgeous berry-plum shade. Also a very versatile yet very commanding shade. Donโ€™t be surprised if people will tell you that you look so Maj.ย ????

Dior Lip Tattoo Review

Final words. These lip products are really well-made. Youโ€™ll miss ยผ of your life if you wonโ€™t try it. Just kidding. But seriously, I do think that this is Diorโ€™s answer to the coveted Armani Lip Magnets. The nice thing is, with Dior, probably almost all the shades are crazily pigmented. But with the Armani ones, some of the lighter shades are not that pigmented. But I love the Armani a lot because those never dried my lips and theyโ€™re slightly thicker in consistency than Dior. Anyhow, whichever you prefer between the two, they wonโ€™t disappoint you.ย
