Tom Ford Lip Lacquer Review + Swatches

The Tom Ford Lip Lacquers ($54) are the newest line of liquid lip products from Tom Ford Beauty. They come in three different finishes; Matte, Metallic, and Patent or High Shine. Some of these lipsticks are liquid versions of some of Tom Ford’s famous lip colors.

I am so excited that finally, Tom Ford released some liquid lipsticks this time because I’m really curious how they would fare compared to some other popular liquid lipsticks that have been hitting the market. For starters, I picked one shade that I like from each finish and tested them. The Mattes are really good formula-wise. They are so lightweight and they’re quite similar to the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments in texture and overall consistency, which is more of a liquid feel as opposed to being creamy. It sets on the lips after a few seconds and it won’t smudge or crease. It’s pretty much waterproof and you can eat or drink with it and the color will still stay put on the lips. There is a slight vanilla scent on all three finishes, and even though the Mattes set on the lips well, they’re not as drying compared to most matte lipsticks. For the Metallic Finish, I think these lipsticks have such smooth metallic glassy particles that really creates a holographic definition on the lips. I find the shimmers to be fine and very beautiful that they’re so wearable as opposed to just looking like you smacked glitter on your lips, like most metallic liquid lipsticks. They are also creamy and non-sticky. The colors can last for several hours even after eating and drinking. The Patent Finish is wonderful as well even though like most high shine lipsticks – you have to be careful because anything can stick to them, like your hair, but I still love how moisturizing the Tom Ford Liquid Patent formula feels. They’re just light, creamy, comforting, and the colors are staining, vivid, and vibrant. Such intense shades with intense shine.

Pussycat – a muted rose color which is also a popular shade of the Tom Ford Lip Color Matte (reviewed HERE). However, I find this color to look quite muted in its Liquid Matte Finish compared to its solid matte lipstick form. I also think that this is such a beautiful color, and probably the best and most wearable shade of all the TF Liquid Mattes.

Pink Sabre – a metallic rose that is so pretty but you won’t even know how pretty it is until you actually wear it. Its combination of rosy and metallic finish make this shade wearable, and I love the smooth soft flecks of rosy pink shimmers which give you an edgy feminine look. Oh, and it’s a pretty hydrating shade too, not to mention that it gives an extra pout. I also think that this particular lipstick is a great topper for the Pussycat Liquid Matte Finish above.

Ravageur – a bright red high-shine vinyl. It’s glossy, it’s intense, it’s beautiful, and it’s sexy. This is a hard-not-to-notice type of liquid lipstick, and you can tell by just looking at its swatch below. The Ravageur shade already existed in the Tom Ford Patent Finish Lip Color line, and it’s almost always out of stock or truly sold-out. Such a love for this beautiful intense bright red shade.

I love these Tom Ford Lip Lacquers a lot, not only for its beautiful shades but also for its neat and pretty packaging. I love the well-made brush applicator and it applies precisely on the lips. To sum it all up, I think the Liquid Mattes are very well-done especially when it comes to their waterproof formulation that lasts a long time. They are certainly one of the top liquid matte lipsticks that I’ve tried and I highly recommend them. For the Metallics, I think they’re great to wear alone or as toppers for the Matte Finishes, and as for the Patent ones, almost all the shades in this lineup are so pretty. Lasting power for the Metallic and Patent Finishes is about 4-6 hours on me. The color may fade at the middle portion of the lips after eating and drinking but most of it stays put. Speaking of colors, I only wish that there should have been more versions of different nude colors in each finish as opposed to having different hues of the red ones. In other words, there should have been more shade options for these fab Lip Lacquers, after all, these liquid lipsticks are worth the splurge.

The Tom Ford Lip Lacquers are currently available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Orchard Mile and Bergdorf Goodman.

Dior Addict Lacquer Plump Review + Swatches

dior addict lacquer plump review

Here’s something to look forward to when you hit Sephora today or this weekend. I just recently tested the newly-released lip product from Dior, the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump (0.18 oz for $37). It is a plumping lip stain that is comfortable on the lips and also long wearing, according to Dior’s description. I was really excited to get my hands on this particular lip product because I’m a big fan of Dior lippies especially the Rouge Dior Liquid (seen HERE) and the Dior Addict Lip Glow (reviewed HERE). I purchased two shades online that I seemed to like based on the swatches I’ve seen at Dior’s website and Sephora’s. When I received them, I thought the packaging is really pretty and different. It is sort of shaped like a lipstick inside and the brush applicator looks robust and well-made.

Upon application, I noticed a very slight floral scent that really didn’t bother me since it fades away immediately. The formula feels a bit cooling on the lips but I didn’t notice any plumping effect at all. It feels very much like a glossy lip stain but not very glossy like a patent finish. It reminds me a lot of the YSL Glossy Stain (seen HERE) and is also very similar to the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo (swatches HERE) especially with the way the formula stains the lips, like being lightweight and very pigmented. However, unlike the Lip Tattoo which dries into something of a natural to a satin finish, this Dior Addict Lacquer Plump has a glossy finish and it stays that way all the time.

The formula never dried nor chapped my lips after hours of wear and it is indeed lightweight, creamy, non-sticky, and overall very comfortable to wear, but the application can be streaky and may require you to put a bit more of product on the lips since the coverage can be patchy at times. Although it has a medium to full coverage, I find myself constantly swiping the brush on my lips to get that good amount of color.

With that being said, I really love the shades that I picked even though I have never swatched them in-store. I’m inclined to think that the shades in this lineup must be all pretty because the shades I got are not only very wearable, they really do brighten the face with such nice pop of color. However, I find that their swatches online are very misleading because the actual shades of these lipsticks are so different than when applied to the lips and are also very different than by just looking at their packaging alone. Some of the colors appear bright and washed-out on the packaging and can also look very different in the brush, some mostly turn out to be darker in tone especially if you have pigmented lips. So I suggest probably to take a closer look at these lipsticks in-store or look at the swatches online very carefully before you decide.

426 Lovely-DRosy Nude. In Sephora’s website, this shade looks like dark red (yes that’s weird), but it’s actually a medium nude beige in real life. I love this shade as an everyday lip color and it suits really well if you have a fair to light or light-medium skin tone. Even medium and deep skin tones can rock this as a perfect nude lip color.

456 Dior PrettyRosewood. More like a rose berry shade actually, and it’s a very pretty shade that truly brightens the face but not looking over the top. It’s actually a darker shade than it looks on the packaging and in my arm swatch. I find this color to transform into a shade darker once applied on the lips.

I love both of these shades and they are really pretty but I feel like they’re not true to what Dior described about them as being plumping. They do leave a good amount of stain on the lips but you may still have to reapply after eating or drinking. Somehow, I wanted to buy more shades of these but I’m kind of holding back because it’s quite too similar to YSL’s Glossy Stain or the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo, both of which I already have. So, I’ll probably just save my money for some other better liquid lipsticks out there, especially some other new releases like the Tom Ford Lip Lacquer.

Overall, this is a very good Dior liquid lipstick that has a good staining power and with a comfortable formula. It also has a pretty packaging and some very lovely wearable shades to choose from. So, I recommend this lipstick if you don’t own a lot of Dior liquid lipsticks already or are just venturing into Dior lip products, and with the sale going on at Sephora nowadays, you may wanna look into this particular lipstick, just don’t expect any plumping effect of this because you most likely won’t get it.

The Dior Addict Lacquer Plump is currently available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, JCPenney, Selfridges, and Lord & Taylor,

Ciao folks! until next time…

I have compiled some products that I’ve always wanted to purchase but never really made up my mind about them or was sort of holding back just because I was waiting for this sale to happen. A lot of these products are the luxe ones that are too costly especially if you wanna buy them in several shades. Ready to check what’s on my Wishlist? Here they are…

  1. Tom Ford Lip Lacquer ($54) – I’ve got my eyes set on these new-released lip indulgence from TF. I’ve tried these at Nordies before and I already have the Pussycat shade as well. I had to stop myself from trying more because of the upcoming Sephora Beauty Inside Event. So far, my first impression of these Lip Lacquers is really positive. They come in 3 finishes; Matte, Metallic, and High Shine.

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42) – There’s no other Spring-released eyeshadow palette that interests me other than this Anastasia Soft Glam. From its suede packaging to the wearable colors of each pan, this palette is just perfect for everyday eye makeup wear.

  1. Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil ($100) – I’ve been looking into this for quite a while now since I’m starting to get into body oils. This smelled really nice at the store and it has a pretty good amount of shimmer. Just that price though.

  1. Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask (1 for $12, 4 for $45) – This is Tatcha’s newly-released face mask and as a Tatcha lover, I’m pretty excited what this is all about and I want to see whether my skin is going like it or not. I bet this smells divine too.

  1. Tom Ford Boys & Girls Lip Color (0.07 oz: $36) – I’m looking forward to purchasing some of the Girls shade as I skipped on them before. It looks to me that the Girls have a much better color pay off compared to the Boys. They seem to be more long-wearing as well.

  1. Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel (3.4 oz: $48) – Got a sample of this from my Sephora Play a few months ago and I love it. It takes away dead skin cells and it makes the face really smooth. So I need to get this in a larger size.

  1. Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream (0.5 oz: $64) – This eye cream seems really promising. It combines Vitamin C and Peptides which are really great for the skin. I’m curious how it works compared to the popular Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream.

  1. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer (0.7 oz: $52) – This is currently sold out and a lot of people are raving about this primer. I’m curious if this really holds the makeup longer, and how velvety the finish would be given my oily-prone skin type. I also really like the way it smells when I tried it in-store. It’s like finally, a primer that smells good, so I need to get my hands on this soon.

  1. Farmacy The Mighties Kit ($45) – I’ve been really liking the Farmacy products lately, especially when I got a sample of the Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer and the Honey Potion Mask. They feel so smooth and so moisturizing on the skin. Applying them is such a soothing experience, and this set is gonna be a real treat if you love this brand.

  1. Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick (0.21 oz: $42) – I love Hourglass Cosmetics because their products are not only beautiful, they also make you look beautiful in them. This Highlighting Stick feels so creamy and so beautifully shimmery when I tried it in-store. I have my eyes on the Champagne and Gold Flash shades.

  1. Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist (4 oz: $32) – I’ve never tried any Herbivore products before, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this Rose Hibiscus Coconut Face Mist. I seem to like its combination of ingredients and as a face mist fanatic, I would really like to have this.

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter (0.31 oz: $28) – Didn’t really care much about this before as I was more focused on the ABH Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette, but when I swatched this in-store I was immediately blown away. The golden shimmer is beautifully wearable, it’s glitzy and blinding but in a soft and natural way. Now I need this.

  1. Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator (0.49 oz: $42) – This has been out for a long time and I’ve always wanted it. Every time I see this in the store, my heart breaks because its glow is so beautiful and so bold, and I feel like this time I’ve got to have this, you’ll never know when the situation calls for a dramatic glow highlighter.

  1. Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm (0.13 oz: $18) – Been having some chapped lips issue lately due to the dry cold weather, and a lot of people are recommending me this. They said it’s effective and it works especially during dry lip seasons. So off this goes to my cart.

  1. Chloé Nomade Eau de Parfum (mini/travel: $28, 1 oz: $75, 1.7 oz: $105, 2.5 oz: $132) – Ever since sniffing this in a magazine, I knew this scent is going to be perfect for me and it’s going to be a hit for everyone. I got a sample of this in-store as well and it’s really good. It’s not the typical Chloe scent, it’s more of a soft slightly sweet floral with something green and fresh. It’s different and unique.

  1. Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Color ($54) – Heard very good news about this “another latest” from Tom Ford. They said all the shades in this range are so good, you can’t miss it. The pigments and longevity seem to be the big plus on this one. So I have my eyes set on the Nubile, Exuberant, and Luscious shade.

  1. Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer ($34) – I’m really curious about this particular concealer. I have a feeling that it’s gonna be a really good one. But why do I feel like it might be similar to the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer? or at least that’s how I felt when I tried this in-store a few days ago. Oh well, let’s see when it finally reaches my home soon.

  1. Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose (3.3 oz Eau de Cologne Spray: $130, 3.3 oz Concentrate Eau de Toilette Spray: $138) – In-store, this was love at first spritz. Love the light citrusy floral smell. It’s an airy scent that is simple yet very dreamy. A perfect scent for this Spring and Summer. Definitely a must-have.

So, there you go guys, that’s what’s on my wishlist, but I bet that it’s only gonna be the first part. LOL.
