Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick Review + Swatches

marc jacobs enamored lip gloss

I’ve been asked some questions regarding the new Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick (0.074 oz: $28) and nothing excites me more than knowing that there’s a new lip product to investigate, especially the ones that are from MJ Beauty.

marc jacobs enamored lip glosses review

The Enamored Lip Gloss is basically a lip gloss in a stick that’s meant to condition and hydrate the lips while delivering a glossy finish. At first glance, the product’s packaging feels really easy on the hands especially with its teardrop-shaped applicator that makes it precise to apply on the lips. The colored caps of each tube seems to accurately match the shade of the lip gloss as well. On the outside, this product looks like a lipstick, that is, until you start applying it on the lips. It feels really emulsifying and it melts on the lips easily like butter. I wouldn’t call it creamy, but it’s more like a lip oil, or pretty much like a very pigmented lip gloss. It does glide effortlessly on the lips and it’s very lightweight as if you didn’t apply anything on. I didn’t notice any sticky feel all throughout my usage of the product, and it’s really comfortable to wear. I love that it has this nice subtle peppermint scent which is really on point this summer and I wish all lipsticks and lip glosses smell like that. Also, this Enamored Lip Gloss is super hydrating from the moment you apply this to your lips and even after it fades away, leaving the lips feeling supple and smooth.

Here are five of the eight shades.

Mocha Choco-lata!nude pinky beige, perfect nude for light or light/medium skintones.

Uh-Huh Honeybrown sugar shimmer, a very wearable brown sugar tone that’s packed with glitter.

One Mauve Timerose mauve, a deeply saturated perfect mauve shade for those with slightly pigmented lips.

Black Cherry Babybronze cherry, appears dark red-brown at first glance but it’s actually quite sheer and can be easily worn by anyone with light/medium to deep skin tones. Reminds me a bit of Clinique’s super popular “Black Honey“.

Candy Bling red raspberry, a perfect pop of color this summer.

Lasting power for me with this Enamored Lip Gloss is pretty short, about 3 hours to 3.5 hours maximum. It fades away easily after eating or drinking and it’s not staining, so that’s kind of my beef with this. I’m also not keen on taking this outside with the Summer heat, fearing that it might melt easily due to its oily or buttery consistency. Speaking of its consistency, this lip gloss on a stick actually reminds me a lot of the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick (reviewed HERE) and the rest of the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine lineup (HERE). Also, it’s quite similar to the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick (swatched HERE). So, there are a lot of products that may seem comparable to this Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss, however, it has a fairly wearable lineup of shades and its scent is something to consider for.

Overall, this is a great hydrating lip product that looks like a lipstick but feels and applies like a lip gloss with a nice shiny effect on the lips. It won’t stay long on the lips, so you’ll need to reapply quite often but it’s comfortable, non-sticky, super lightweight and it comes in cute wearable colors.

Dior Addict Lacquer Stick Review + Swatches

Oh, Hi There! Ever since I reviewed the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump (HERE), I began to wonder what its solid lipstick counterpart was like – the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick (0.11 oz: $37). Upon the description, it’s meant to be a hybrid lip lacquer shine and a lip balm all rolled into one, while the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump, on the other hand, is supposed to be a lip plumping lacquer complete with all its hydrating effect and shine. While I do like the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump due to its comforting effect on the lips, as well as its beautiful shades, I didn’t think it was plumping at all, or at least I didn’t really notice it. But with the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick, it’s a completely different experience.

I remember skipping on these lipsticks before when they were released, (which I shouldn’t have) thinking that it would just be like any other Dior lipsticks. But since purchasing the three shades which I’m about to review below, I felt like I really I should have bought some before since there weren’t a lot of colors left anymore at my local Dior counters or even at my local Department Stores or Sephora. Upon initial test, in my opinion, I think this Lacquer Stick is a lot better than the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump. With this, the application is smooth and you’ll really get a good coverage with just one swipe. By smooth, I mean buttery smooth, kinda like those YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in texture and comfort. The Lacquer stick is also very hydrating and super lightweight on the lips, so you won’t feel like wearing anything at all. There are two finishes available as of the moment: the limited-edition Glitter finish and the Satin finish.

627 Rising Star – Glittery Nude. I fell in love with this holographic shimmery nude immediately. I love that it’s a medium taupe shade that complements my lips’ undertone and that nice multi-faceted soft shimmer is so pretty yet not too uncomfortably blinding. It’s a great every nude lip color with wearable shimmers.

Satin Finish:

420 Underground – Pink Nude. This color is one of those perfect everyday lipstick no matter what complexion you’re in. It’s a “hard to come by” shade even though there’s a ton of nude lipsticks nowadays. Yet this shade seems to adapt to any inherent color that’s already on the lips. It isn’t a show-off shade, instead, it’s more of wearable warm nude with a tiny bit of pink.

570 L.A. Pink – Rosewood. A very beautiful, (like bee-you-tiful!) mauve rose that looks a bit like the Underground shade above but has a bit more pink in it. For me, this is such a very wearable warm pinky rosewood because its undertones are muted so it’s not flashy even though its finish is quite shiny.

There is a slight floral scent to these lipsticks, but it’s not as strong compared to the scent of most Dior Addict Lipsticks. I actually find the scent to be pleasing. The packaging, on the other hand, is sleek but it’s a bit annoying because the names of the lipsticks are on the tube cover and not on the product’s tube itself. So there’s a huge possibility of mislabeling the lipsticks. Other than that, this Dior Addict Lacquer Stick is almost perfect. It feels light on the lips, it’s indeed comforting and hydrating like a lip balm, its pigments are superb and gives good coverage, while it has a nice shiny finish but not over the top like a vinyl effect. It lasts a good three hours on me after eating, but a solid 4 to 5 hours with minimal snacking or just sipping coffee, juice or tea.

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil Review

What’s Up Everybody! You all know I love YSL lip products and I just can’t get enough of them. As I’ve said before, YSL lippies are very reliable for me and they’re usually the lipsticks that you’d most likely find in my purse. They all have the same flavoring of their lipsticks, glosses and balms. It’s that juicy mango-guava taste that some of you may find to be a bit too much, but personally, it hasn’t really bothered me that much. It may take some getting used to for others though.

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil

This YSL lip product that is currently in my purse is the YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil. It’s basically a very glossy and pigmented gloss that acts as a multitasker. It can be worn alone as a lip conditioner or a lip tint since it’s very hydrating, comforting and very lightweight while leaving a tint or stain of color as soon as the formula settles on your lips. It can also be worn on top of your favorite lipsticks for that added gloss. On top of that, it doesn’t feel sticky at all.

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil Review

When I first swatched these lippies, I wasn’t exactly sure as to what color I should get. There’s not a lot of shades to choose from at my local Sephora or even online, though there’s more to choose from at YSL’s website. Also, they really seem to come off as very sheer. I also thought that there’s not a lot of colors that may fit my pigmented lips and skin tone. Eventually, I found two colors that I thought would look great on me. The shade No.8 Pink About Me and No.6 Peach Me Love.

  • No. 8 Pink About Me – This was the shade I’ve been eyeing online before I purchased it at my local Sephora. I thought this would be the best color for my pigmented lips, but it turns out that it’s way too sheer and too similar to my lip’s natural color, even the dry down color or tint is too similar, therefore this shade didn’t really show much on me, except to look more like a gloss. Therefore, a lip gloss it’s gonna be, and it’s a long wearing flattering lip gloss. Not bad at all.
  • No. 6 Peach Me Love – Love this shade a lot. It’s much much better than the No.8 Pink About Me shade when it comes to its pigmentation and staining ability. This particular color is basically a peachy-orange tone, but it looks more like a mauve-peach shade on my lips specially once it settles, because my lips has underlying pigments. I definitely prefer this shade more than the shade mentioned above as I could not only discern it but also it looks very natural.

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil

I’ve read some comments about the products poor packaging, and that it tends to leak or spill. Hmmm, that really hasn’t happened to me so far. In fact, I find the packaging to be robust and pretty much easy to twist and open. The formulation is very oily for sure, but it’s very light and comforting. Also, it doesn’t make you look like you just drunk an entire bottle of olive oil. No not like that, the glossiness is just enough to flatter your lips, not to mention the pretty tint or stain that it leaves.
