I have compiled some products that I’ve always wanted to purchase but never really made up my mind about them or was sort of holding back just because I was waiting for this sale to happen. A lot of these products are the luxe ones that are too costly especially if you wanna buy them in several shades. Ready to check what’s on my Wishlist? Here they are…

  1. Tom Ford Lip Lacquer ($54) – I’ve got my eyes set on these new-released lip indulgence from TF. I’ve tried these at Nordies before and I already have the Pussycat shade as well. I had to stop myself from trying more because of the upcoming Sephora Beauty Inside Event. So far, my first impression of these Lip Lacquers is really positive. They come in 3 finishes; Matte, Metallic, and High Shine.

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42) – There’s no other Spring-released eyeshadow palette that interests me other than this Anastasia Soft Glam. From its suede packaging to the wearable colors of each pan, this palette is just perfect for everyday eye makeup wear.

  1. Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil ($100) – I’ve been looking into this for quite a while now since I’m starting to get into body oils. This smelled really nice at the store and it has a pretty good amount of shimmer. Just that price though.

  1. Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask (1 for $12, 4 for $45) – This is Tatcha’s newly-released face mask and as a Tatcha lover, I’m pretty excited what this is all about and I want to see whether my skin is going like it or not. I bet this smells divine too.

  1. Tom Ford Boys & Girls Lip Color (0.07 oz: $36) – I’m looking forward to purchasing some of the Girls shade as I skipped on them before. It looks to me that the Girls have a much better color pay off compared to the Boys. They seem to be more long-wearing as well.

  1. Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel (3.4 oz: $48) – Got a sample of this from my Sephora Play a few months ago and I love it. It takes away dead skin cells and it makes the face really smooth. So I need to get this in a larger size.

  1. Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream (0.5 oz: $64) – This eye cream seems really promising. It combines Vitamin C and Peptides which are really great for the skin. I’m curious how it works compared to the popular Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream.

  1. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer (0.7 oz: $52) – This is currently sold out and a lot of people are raving about this primer. I’m curious if this really holds the makeup longer, and how velvety the finish would be given my oily-prone skin type. I also really like the way it smells when I tried it in-store. It’s like finally, a primer that smells good, so I need to get my hands on this soon.

  1. Farmacy The Mighties Kit ($45) – I’ve been really liking the Farmacy products lately, especially when I got a sample of the Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer and the Honey Potion Mask. They feel so smooth and so moisturizing on the skin. Applying them is such a soothing experience, and this set is gonna be a real treat if you love this brand.

  1. Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick (0.21 oz: $42) – I love Hourglass Cosmetics because their products are not only beautiful, they also make you look beautiful in them. This Highlighting Stick feels so creamy and so beautifully shimmery when I tried it in-store. I have my eyes on the Champagne and Gold Flash shades.

  1. Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist (4 oz: $32) – I’ve never tried any Herbivore products before, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this Rose Hibiscus Coconut Face Mist. I seem to like its combination of ingredients and as a face mist fanatic, I would really like to have this.

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter (0.31 oz: $28) – Didn’t really care much about this before as I was more focused on the ABH Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette, but when I swatched this in-store I was immediately blown away. The golden shimmer is beautifully wearable, it’s glitzy and blinding but in a soft and natural way. Now I need this.

  1. Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator (0.49 oz: $42) – This has been out for a long time and I’ve always wanted it. Every time I see this in the store, my heart breaks because its glow is so beautiful and so bold, and I feel like this time I’ve got to have this, you’ll never know when the situation calls for a dramatic glow highlighter.

  1. Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm (0.13 oz: $18) – Been having some chapped lips issue lately due to the dry cold weather, and a lot of people are recommending me this. They said it’s effective and it works especially during dry lip seasons. So off this goes to my cart.

  1. Chloรฉ Nomade Eau de Parfum (mini/travel: $28, 1 oz: $75, 1.7 oz: $105, 2.5 oz: $132) – Ever since sniffing this in a magazine, I knew this scent is going to be perfect for me and it’s going to be a hit for everyone. I got a sample of this in-store as well and it’s really good. It’s not the typical Chloe scent, it’s more of a soft slightly sweet floral with something green and fresh. It’s different and unique.

  1. Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Color ($54) – Heard very good news about this “another latest” from Tom Ford. They said all the shades in this range are so good, you can’t miss it. The pigments and longevity seem to be the big plus on this one. So I have my eyes set on the Nubile, Exuberant, and Luscious shade.

  1. Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer ($34) – I’m really curious about this particular concealer. I have a feeling that it’s gonna be a really good one. But why do I feel like it might be similar to the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer? or at least that’s how I felt when I tried this in-store a few days ago. Oh well, let’s see when it finally reaches my home soon.

  1. Hermรจs Eau de Pamplemousse Rose (3.3 oz Eau de Cologne Spray: $130, 3.3 oz Concentrate Eau de Toilette Spray: $138) – In-store, this was love at first spritz. Love the light citrusy floral smell. It’s an airy scent that is simple yet very dreamy. A perfect scent for this Spring and Summer. Definitely a must-have.

So, there you go guys, that’s what’s on my wishlist, but I bet that it’s only gonna be the first part. LOL. If you’re gonna be shopping online for the Sephora Beauty Inside Event this week or next week, use the code YAYROUGE for Rouge Members, YAYVIB for VIB Members and YAYINSIDER for BI Members. London To Stonehenge. A Trip To The English Countryside

Hey Mate! Several months ago, I took a trip to visit a cousin and an aunt of mine who lives down South of England. We’ve been dying to see each other for years, in fact, I haven’t seen my aunt for 15 years and my cousin for 10 years. They’ve been asking me to visit them for a long long time, and me wanting the same, but for some reason, life happened and years had passed without us seeing each other. That is until finally, I decided to make the move and travel down to Southampton.

My trip to the UK was probably one of the most exciting trips I’ve ever done in my life. That’s because it was my first time setting foot in the Land of hope and glory, not to mention finally seeing my relatives after several years. Coming from the Land of the free, I first took a connecting flight to the Land of the Maple Leaf (Canada) and from there I took the 5-hour flight to London Heathrow. I didn’t really plan to see a lot of places on this trip since I only allotted a few days to stay in the UK. I have also made plans to go to Spain right after that, so I wasn’t really sure whether I would be able to see some tourist attractions in London or not. My goal was mostly to see my relatives. Right after landing in Heathrow which was almost midnight, I took a cab straight to the Hilton Ageas Bowl in Southampton. It’s a hotel with a stadium attached to it and it’s one of the few hotels near my cousin’s place. While I was in the cab, I remember being shocked at the Brit’s “left-hand side traffic” way of driving and how weird and different it was compared to the US. I also remember falling asleep in the cab several times only to wake up and realize that I was still in the cab and that it was really dark and scary out there. We’ve passed by a lot of looming woods, vast lands and whatsoever, and I thought “this is so far away” but my cousin told me that it’ll only take about 30 minutes drive to the hotel without traffic, and yet there was no traffic around that time but the taxi was still going and going. It seemed like forever. Oh well, anyhow, It took me about 2 hours to arrive to the hotel and it was nice but I didn’t have a nice view of the Cricket stadium, instead, I had a view of the parking lot with a small golf course around it. It was too dark for me to see things around when I arrived, so off I went to sleep immediately.

Bishop’s Waltham, St. George’s Square & St. Peter’s Church

The following day I got a better view of what was around me, the Hilton Ageas Bowl is a nice and quaint hotel with good food and is a great place to do some sports. I saw men with their golf accessories and some other people who looked like they were into sports or something. The weather was gloomy and kind of windy that day but I loved it. It makes for the perfect South England atmosphere. My first impression of Southampton is very interesting. It felt like I was in this magical place, kinda like The Lord Of The Rings vibe, somewhere down in Middle Earth, LOL. The grasses are lush green, the pines look healthy and vibrant, it’s quiet, it’s peaceful, it’s rural, it’s relaxing, it’s so quaint and so dreamy. I freaking love it. I saw some farm animals, like goats, cows, fat pigs and chubby sheeps, along with some very beautiful horses. My cousin lives near the ruins of Bishops Waltham Palace, which was once a residence of the richest Bishops of Winchester but was badly damaged and abandoned during the Civil War. Now it has become an open field Farmhouse Museum. After a few exchanges of Hi’s and Hellos, a hearty seafood lunch (which they are big on, especially shrimps and crabs) and lots of jokes and laughs, we drove a short distance to the ruins of the Bishop’s Waltham together with my aunt and her husband. Here are some photos.

Afterwards, we walked to the St. George’s Square nearby, which is full of quaint shops and houses. Then we strolled towards St. Peter’s Church, a parish with a small cemetery close to it. The view was absolutely beautiful.

Stonehenge

The next day, my cousin and her family took me to a two-hour drive to see the world famous Stonehenge. My cousin told me that she wasn’t really impressed when she first saw the Stonehenge. For her, it looked just like a pile of large stones. But for me, it was really impressive when I first saw it from afar. As we get closer and closer, I thought the stones were beautiful and the way they were arranged was interesting. My cousin also said that they were able to touch the stones before, but now it has been fenced and you have to pay the entrance fee at the Visitor Center in order to see it close enough. Once you park your car in the designated parking lot and pay the entrance fee, you will need to get into one of their buses which will then take you close enough to the Stonehenge which is just about a few minutes ride. You’re will then walk around it and see its majestic grandeur together with the rest of the mesmerized tourists. Curious about the Stonehenge? Here’s what I know. Stonehenge is a circular pile of large stones (monoliths) that was thought to be constructed by the prehistoric tribes around 3000 and 2920 BC, which is basically the Neolithic period. The people that constructed it left no trace of what it was meant for and why. However, archaeologists found bones and other fragments in the area, which led them to believe that Stonehenge served as a ceremonial and burial site, but apart from that, Stonehenge’s real history and purpose still remains a mystery up to this date. After circling around the Stonehenge, I then took the bus back to the Visitor Center and I saw some replica of the houses of the tribes that built the Stonehenge. There was also this depiction of one of the large stones that showed how the tribes managed to haul it to the site. As far as I know, it would take about 100 people to pull that one big stone in the picture. Now that’s impressive!

After the Stonehenge adventure, we planned to go to Portsmouth but my jet lag was kicking in, so I decided to just go back to the hotel and rest. I had to go to Gatwick Airport the next day to catch a flight to Spain, so you can imagine my relatives’ sadness knowing that I basically only had to stay three days in the UK, but at least we saw each other, that was all that mattered. I asked her if there’s a way for me to go and visit London from Gatwick, and she said that I could take a train to London Victoria. So off I went to Gatwick Airport early the next day and my gosh, it felt like another two long hours in the cab, so I was so tired by the time I got to Premier Inn, a transit hotel in Gatwick Airport. I honestly can’t recommend this hotel, even though it is affordable and it is basically right in the airport which is good, but it’s also small and it’s uncomfortable to walk around with its tight spaces, plus it’s really dusty and not quite sanitary. The AC was mediocre as well. There wasn’t much inside this hotel room but a single easy-to-dispense liquid soap. Oh well, at least I didn’t have to stay that long. Next time I’d probably find another place somewhere in Gatwick to stay.

London

From Gatwick Airport, I took a one-way ticket via the the Express Train to London Victoria. I couldn’t remember how much I paid for it, but I think it was close to ยฃ20 and it took me around 40-45 minutes to get to London Victoria. The trip was pleasant, and there weren’t a lot of people on the train. I kinda felt like I had a “Girl On The Train” vibe during the trip, passing through tunnels, houses, and buildings. It was almost dark when I got to London, so I decided to take the Big Bus Tour. It took me a while to find the waiting spot since the streets are not really well-signed. Somehow I did manage to find it and I waited and waited a long time for the bus to arrive, but apparently, they had some maintenance issue going on at that time, so I basically wasted a lot of my time and was really annoyed that I may not be able to see much of London. I decided to just go and take a cab close to the London Eye or Big Ben. I swear, I love the cabs in London, they’re so comfortable compared to the ones we have here in the US, you can have a lot of legroom plus it’s a cab suitable for when you’re carrying your luggage. Anyway, I really didn’t get to see much of London, which is kind of a bummer. It was so dark by the time I strolled along and arrived at the popular tourist’s spots, but I could tell that the architecture and the entire view is nice. It probably looked very different during the daylight, but at night it’s also really beautiful. Anyway, here are some photos of my short stroll in London. My apologies for the dark photos.

Overall, my short stay in London and Southampton are, as I have said before, one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever done. It’s a lovely place and it’s different and unique. It sort of reminds of the old vintage America, complete with its clean bricks and quaint houses, along with some beautiful and grand architectures. I definitely would love to come back because there were a lot of things I wanted to see, like how could I miss Bond Street? Hopefully, I won’t be rushing again by the time I’m back, and that I hope it won’t take another ten years for me to see my relatives again.

FYI: When visiting the UK, it’s always a good idea to bring your three-pronged adaptor plugs if you’re coming from the US or some parts of Europe and Asia. But if you’re from Hong Kong, you’re all set.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer VS Tarte Shape Tape Concealer Review

tarte shape tape concealer compared to nars radiant creamy concealer

I get these questions a lot, “What’s the difference between the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer versus the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Concealer? or “Is there even any difference at all?” Those questions also intrigued for quite a while. I’ve always been using the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and just sort of didn’t even bother to try the Tarte Shape Tape mainly because it’s always sold out, at least for quite some time, until now (I think). A lot of people said that it’s the best concealer ever, while some also claimed that the Nars ones are the real bestsellers. Hmm, that’s kinda confusing, isn’t it? so let’s take a closer look at these two very popular concealers.

nars radiant creamy concealer review

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (mini/0.05 oz: $13, 0.22 oz: $30) – I bet that everyone owns this concealer or at least are very familiar with it. It’s a reliable creamy concealer that hides redness, dark spots, blemishes, dark undereye circles and any other skin imperfections. The best thing about this concealer is that it is easy to blend and it has a buildable formula. It is creamy and easy to work on the skin and it has very good pigments that set well for several hours of wear. Because of its creaminess, it doesn’t make the skin look dry and cakey, however, for the same reason, you still need to set this concealer with a setting powder, like the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder to extend the life of this concealer and minimize the chance of creasing. Also, this Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer comes in a vast range of shades to choose from, so you’re definitely guaranteed to find the shade that’s right for you.

tarte double duty beauty shape tape concealer review

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Concealer (0.33 oz: $27) – What I said about the Nars Radiant Concealer is almost also true with the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. In fact, I find it to be quite surprising that these two concealers are so similar to each other. The Tarte Shape Tape is also smooth and creamy and it blends well into the skin. It also has a very good coverage that conceals any imperfections, and its formula lasts throughout the day but you still need to set it with a setting powder as well.

With all that’s being said, here are some key points about the two concealer’s main similarities and differences, with some pros and cons.

difference between nars radiant creamy concealer and tarte shape tape concealer

Packaging: The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer has a slimmer tube with a much slimmer brush/wand compared to the Tarte Shape Tape. Because of that, it’s much easier for me to use the Nars Radiant Concealer since I can control the amount of product I need to use with just a few swipes of the brush. With the Tarte Shape Tape, I definitely need to be careful with the way I apply it because the brush is large and wide so you might run the risk of using too much product. I have to literally just put one or two dots of the concealer on my face.

Blendability: Both concealers need to be blended properly and they do spread and blend well using the original Beautyblender or the Beautyblender Micro Mini. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer seems to be slightly easier to blend compared to the Tarte Shape Tape, although both concealer immediately sets on the skin after a few seconds.

Pigment: I find the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer to be slightly more pigmented than the Nars Radiant Concealer, and that is the reason why it takes a few more dabbing and blending for the Shape Tape concealer to blend very well on the skin. Yet that difference of pigment strength is very very subtle and almost hard to discern for some.

tarte shape tape concealer in light-medium swatch

Fragrance: There is a slight and pleasing floral fragrance of the Tarte Shape Tape, while the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer does not have any scent at all.

Price: The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer comes in two sizes; the mini, and the regular size, while the Tarte Shape Tape seems to come only in one regular size and it’s $3 cheaper than the regular size of the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.

Lasting Power: Even though both formulas are not really prone to extreme creasing, they still require a loose setting powder to set them for hours and hours of wear. However, I find that the Tarte Shape Tape holds its pigments and concealing ability slightly much better than the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I could get a good 12 hours wear with the Tarte Shape Concealer and it never creased on me. My dark undereye circles were thoroughly concealed, it didn’t accentuate my fine lines nor my dry undereye areas, and even though I have oily-prone skin, the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer held through.

nars concealer vs tarte concealer

Verdict, I like both concealers and I feel like it’s good to have both. I like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for an everyday use or at times when you don’t really need to have hours and hours of perfect makeup. I’m giving it more points for its easy to use brush applicator and also because it comes in a ton of shades to choose from. However, for that same reason, I feel like it’s a blessing and a curse. Having a ton of shade range adds more dilemma to the consumers in finding the right shade for them, that’s because having too many similar shades might confuse and deter people from buying a certain product, not to mention, time-consuming. On the other hand, it’s also a good thing since that means potentially finding the right color for you. Anway, it was much easier for me to decide which Tarte Shape Tape Concealer to buy and I didn’t have to get confused. The Light-Medium shade is the best for my skin tone. Its closest Nars Radiant Concealer shade match would be the Custard color. In this review, you’ll find the Macadamia shade which I’ve been using nowadays. Back to Tarte, I actually like the light floral scent of the Tarte Shape Tape, but I don’t like its wand. Too big, too much product to apply, it’s a challenge to work around, but if I want my makeup to last and be on point, I’d definitely grab a Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Bottom line, get both, or either of the two will do, they’re pretty much almost identical anyway and you won’t be disappointed with any of them.
