Happy New Year everyone! It’s finally 2020! I can’t wait to see what this year will bring for us. I hope this year will be a year filled with happiness, excitement, and of course, beauty stuff, lol. So, to start the year, let’s talk about two of the latest Dior lip releases this Fall/Winter – The Rouge Dior Ultra Care line of Lipsticks and Liquid Lipsticks.
I almost overlooked this release thinking it would be quite the same as the Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipsticks last year (reviewed HERE in the blog). But actually, it’s not, this latest line of Dior lipsticks may have the same packaging style and color as last year’s Dior Ultra Rouge, but these lipsticks have a different texture, and the liquid ones are totally different as well.
Some of the shades/numbers in this release may be available in both lipstick and liquid lipstick form, and they may slightly vary in color depth and tone. The shades of the Rouge Dior Ultra Care Lipsticks are all matte in finish, while the Rouge Dior Ultra Liquid ones are in matte and satin.
This type of lipstick has camelina oil and jojoba. It feels really light and super comfortable. It does have the signature Dior floral lipstick scent, and the packaging is a beautiful standout red. The center/core of the lipstick contains a white CD, like a cute embossing that contains the camelina oil and jojoba for hydration. It adds a bit of pearlescent sheen to the lipstick’s main shade. Additionally, the texture of this lipstick is comfortable matte and it can last for hours without reapplication. The shades are also mostly very beautiful and very pigmented.
480 Fleur Bleue (dusty pink matte) – on my skin, it looks like a light coral pink
750 Blossom (intense pink matte) – looks more like a medium pink on me
This liquid lipstick is infused with camelina and almond oil, and also with shea butter. It feels so light and it also has the signature Dior floral scent, but a bit more subtle than the lipstick version above. It comes in both matte and satin finish, and both are very comfortable on the lips. The pigment is amazing and also very long-lasting. The matte finish tends to have a soft-focus diffuse effect on the lips, while the satin one adds more depth and dimension. Personally, I love both finishes because the satin shades don’t look too shimmery. The only thing I don’t like about this lipstick is the weak brush applicator. Though the packaging is cute and pretty in red, and the brush’s shape is quite precise to apply, but it bends too much and it feels weak and too soft upon application. Still, that didn’t stop me from collecting another shade, which is the 966 Desire below. It’s such a beautiful color.
786 Rosewood (matte, rosewood) – a diffused matte brick rose
966 Desire (satin, ruby red) – burgundy with a subtle sheen
Bottom line, these are the best lipsticks I’ve tried this season and I highly recommend them. I may have a slight preference for the liquid version, but that’s because I like their diffused natural effect on my lips, however, both lipsticks’ form and the finishes are totally worth trying for their lasting powder and bold pigments.
Nothing gets me in the mood for Fall than getting some new Chanel Beauty goodies. I don’t know why, it must be the changing colors or the transitioning weather along with the gorgeous cool palettes and lipsticks that Chanel tends to release every Autumn, but there’s definitely something about all these factors that make me really excited about what’s supposed to be a very chilly season this year (hopefully not). But before we start with the Chanel beauties I’m loving this Fall and Winter, please have a look at my Chanel Faves last Fall 2018, click HERE.
I didn’t really pick up all the stuff that Chanel released this Fall-Winter 2019, and that’s because there were some new releases that I didn’t quite like, so I ended up adding some items that were mostly released earlier this year which I’ve been wishlisting for a while.
I skipped on the two new eyeshadows released this season (Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadows) because I wasn’t feeling the shades, or it’s more like I wasn’t sure whether if I could pull off the shades or not, since one compact seems to be too dark and the other seems to be too futuristic on me, lol. I did get a few more shades of my favorite Rouge Allure Liquid Powders, but I skipped on the new Rouge Allure Ink Fusion, which is the new and improved version of the Rouge Allure Ink. I did kind of regret doing that, so I might actually feature that particular Chanel lip product anytime soon in one of my upcoming posts, and I will definitely let you know whether it’s worth having or not, and whether it’s really better than the original Chanel Rouge Allure Ink. So, stay tuned for that. I also added one more shade in my stash of the Chanel Le Crayon Mat and one more of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme. Anyways, check out my Chanel Beauty haul this Autumn.
Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in 328 Blurry Mauve (62 USD) – Released last May 2019, this is the eyeshadow that’s giving me the feels this Fall, apart from the 268 Candeur Et Expรฉrience which is also a very good spice-toned quad of shades. I picked this one up because I like its wearable color scheme, which is very versatile and can be worn not only for this Fall-Winter, but also throughout any season and on any day. Its mix of natural earthy tones and pale/neutral mauve tones are easy for a transitional weather everyday look, and it reminds me a bit of the 308 Clair-Obscur Chanel eyeshadow compact released last Fall 2018 which I still love nowadays as well. The shades of this quad compact are matte and their overall effect adds warmth and color on the face without looking too gothic or too metallic. See more Chanel eyeshadow swatches HERE.
978 Bois de Nuit – this is a new shade this Fall 2019. On my lips, this looks like a pale light rose pink. Indoor, this shade is quite hard to see on my lips and this is almost on the border of being too light for me, but in broad daylight, this shows as a perfect everyday healthy pink lip glow for a “no-makeup” makeup look.

970 Ruby Red – this is very similar to the shade 960 Avant Gardiste (seen HERE) that was released last year, but perhaps this is more on the purple raspberry pink side, but I honestly almost could not tell the difference between this and the Avant Gardiste shade.
968 Vintage Pink – released early this year, this shade is quite similar to the 978 Bois de Nuit above, but this is a bit warmer and deeper in tone, so, it looks more like a muted vintage rose pink on me, which actually suits my skin very well.
Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in 128 Rose Nocturne (38 USD) – a FAll 2019 release, this shade is like a vintage rose brown. It looks great when applied lightly on the lips for that perfect Fall lip shade, and it also looks fabulous when applied fully on the lips. The texture is very matte, lightweight, and very long-wearing. See more of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme Lipsticks HERE.
Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Mat in 287 Rosy Wood (38 USD) – This isn’t new this Fall, but this is a limited edition shade. I picked this one up because I really love the long-wearing pigment of this particular Chanel lip pencil. It’s not as matte as the Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme Lipstick (above) but this stains the lips for hours and hours, so it’s one of those reliable lip products for me. The Rosy Wood shade looks more woody brown with a rosy hint up close.
To sum it up, the Chanel new releases this Fall/Winter are great, especially the lip products, and the overall new releases this year are also amazing and some of them are definite must-haves. Also, the items I picked for this review are really good in terms of quality, pigment, wear, and versatility. They’re enough to get me inspired for the long chilly months.
Have you tried any of these already? What makeup brands/products inspire you this Fall?
Hi guys, I am back from a momentary pause. My website experienced a downtime a few days ago, but I am here now, still alive and kicking. So, what have I been doing lately? Apart from going through the whole #snowpocalypse saga, I binge-watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo in Netflix and I suddenly got an idea. Meet me, Marie Apartment (LOL) and I am here to talk to you about the lipsticks that spark joy for me this Winter. And nope, I didn’t throw away my other lipsticks that didn’t spark joy. I still keep them, and I will always keep them all because, in all honesty, these lipsticks always give me joy. But for this Winter, I’m rounding up my faves in liquid lipsticks, balms, lip pencils and lipsticks. This is kind of an exhaustive roundup so grab your favorite drinks and chill. Take note that since I’m a lover of matte lipsticks, almost all the lipsticks here are mostly matte.
I use these lipsticks mostly in rotation, and also, depending on my activity for the day, I tend to pick the shade that would look best and appropriate on me for that occasion. And if I’m undecided, I would just pick the shade that’s giving me all the feels (LOL), unless of course, I have no feels on that day (LOL again), then that’s another story.
Excited to see which lipsticks made the cut? Keep reading (You’ve been warned :-)).
CHARLOTTE TILBURY/SHISEIDO/BITE BEAUTY/FENTY BEAUTY
Shiseido Modern Matte Powder Lipstick in 508 Semi Nude (0.14 oz: $26) – cinnamon. My most unforgettable lipstick ever. One of the most beautiful things that happened lately in my life happened when I wore this lipstick, so this totally sparks a thousand joy for me. This shade is not exactly semi-nude, but more like a muted cinnamon, and the tube of this lipstick is heavy and magnetic. For more of this lipstick, click HERE.
Bite Beauty Multistick in Mascarpone (0.17oz: $24) – deep salmon. I love Bite Beauty’s Multistick (seen HERE) and I like that this is so versatile. You can absolutely do a monochromatic look with just this shade. Just swipe a bit on the lids, lips, and cheeks, and voila! Lagertha (Vikings) is that you? LOL.
Bite Beauty Matte Crรจme Lip Crayon in Glacรฉ (0.05 oz: $24) – dusty mauve. My favorite shade from the Bite Lip Crayon, this color is so versatile and the formula is creamy and comfortable, not to mention the irresistible flavor that this lip product has. More details HERE.
Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Thicc (0.06 oz: $18) – sultry mauve. One of the newest shades from the Mattemoiselle Plush line. This is such a pretty shade that can work with almost any skin tone and the lasting power of this lipstick is just amazing. Also, this feels comfy on the lips given that this is matte. More Fenty Beauty review HERE.
Dior Lip Glow in Berry (0.12 oz: $34) – sheer berry balm. This is probably the Dior Lip Glow shade that complements my skin tone very well since this has a mauve tone that adjusts beautifully to my lips’ natural color. More Dior Lip Glow shades and swatches HERE.
Dior Addict Lacquer Stick in 420 Underground (0.11 oz: $37) – pink nude. This is one of my favorites when it comes to natural or nude lipstick colors. It’s nude but kinda like a warm mid-tone nude with a bit of pink that is enough to complement and add some color to the lips. Great for everyday wear. See the lip swatch HERE.
Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipstick in 843 Ultra Crave ($37) – terracotta pink. This lipstick is so long-wearing and very comfortable to wear. The Ultra-Crave shade really makes you wanna crave for more of this type of lipstick, and of course, the Dior red packaging is so elegant and sleek. Complete review HERE.
The two classic YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks I love are the YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 28 Rose Boheme (0.13 oz: $38) and the 66 Bois De Rose (0.13 oz: $38). 28 Rose Boheme is a purplish pink that seems difficult to locate nowadays, but it’s still one of my fave purple pink lip colors. See lip swatch HERE. You can definitely find some other similar shades of this particular lipstick, like the 09 rose stiletto (lighter) or the matte version called 212 alternative plum (darker). The YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 66 Bois De Rose is my all-time favorite YSL lipstick color. It is pinky nude and it goes well with everything.
YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in 409 Burgundy Vibes (0.18 oz: $37) – This is a full coverage high impact dramatic burgundy shade. Perfect for a night out or for an ultra-glam event. I promise you will never be forgotten after wearing this lipstick, LOL. See the lip swatch HERE.
The Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipsticks in 507 Garconne (0.13 oz: $38) and 600 Front Row (0.13 oz: $38) are two of my staple liquid lipstick/lip stain hybrid. I always love the formula of these since they’re somewhat creamy and definitely comfortable. On top of that, they set into a satiny matte. Also, the wear of these is really good. 507 Garconne is a mauve berry. A perfect mid-tone mauve, while 600 Front Row is a rich brownish berry. You can’t help but stare at how beautiful this shade is. It’s one of those enigmatic berry shade that everyone could pull off. Lip swatch HERE
I haven’t gotten over my love for the Armani Lip Magnets, and here goes the new Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani Matte in 102 Androgino (0.14 oz: $38) and 201 Nightberry (0.14 oz: $38). Androgino is an antique rose and my latest favorite nude lipstick. This really works well for my light/medium skin tone and my pigmented lips. I also think that this is a very universally flattering shade because this has a versatile sort of androgynous undertone. On the other hand, 201 Nightberry is scarlet red. This shade is just to-die-for. It’s the perfect wine-red berry shade with a comfortable creamy matte formula that lasts for hours and hours. Not really sure if I’ll be able to get over the beauty of this lipstick, probably not, so I hope it’s forever. LOL. Lip swatches HERE
CHANEL
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in 118 Eternel (0.12 oz: $37) – Part of Chanel’s Fall ’18 releases, this new “extreme matte” formula is amazing. It’s super pigmented and it stays on the lips without the drying effect. The shade Eternel is the perfect nude pink from this line and I love it. Further swatched HERE.
Before the Velvet Extreme lipsticks, I’ve been a fan and will always be a fan of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 69 Abstrait (0.12 oz: $37) and 58 Rouge Vie (0.12 oz: $37). I also love the Libre shade, but that’s for the Summer. The 69 Abstrait color is a new addition from Chanel and it has a coral nude tone. It is a wonderful shade to moderately brighten the pout with a very comfortable original non-drying velvety matte formula. 58 Rouge Vie is a luminous matte red. It’s hard for me to pull off a true red lip color, but this one has a muted brick-like tone and with a comfortable matte texture, so this works for me since it flatters my skin tone. Lip swatch for Abstrait can be seen HERE.
That comprises my Winter lipstick favorites. Did these lipsticks also spark you some joy? LOL, I mean, what are the lipsticks that spark joy on you lately? And what are your favorite lip colors for the Winter?
